Mother Jailed after force feeding her baby

Gloria Dwomoh has been jailed after she force fed her 10 month old girl Diamond. Diamond died later that year.

Gloria Dwomoh, a 31-year-old nurse from Walthamstow, London, was jailed for three years after being convicted last month of allowing or causing the death of Diamond Dwomoh her 10 month old daugther. The 10-month-old was forced to take solid foods from the age of six months. She died in March 2010. The Old Bailey heard Diamond died from pneumonia caused by food in her lungs that had blocked her airways.
Gloria, who worked at St Thomas's Hospital near Waterloo, had denied the charge.
The trial heard Dwomoh was obsessed with Diamond's weight and fed her liquidised food, including meat and cereals, using a jug when she was weaning the child onto solid food.

SAFETY.

As everyone should of received a letter today about drugs been brought into i just want to stress the importance about safety. Earlier on this week i also posted about safety, if you read my article's you will understand how much safety is at this time of year.

A few girls in Y10 have brought the Class B drug Mephedrone (M-CAT) into school, they got this drug of a boy (from Wales Comprehensive School) at a party over the weekend. This Drug is a class B because of the seriousness of the side effects.

The girls are been dealt with by the School and the Police, they may be Permenantly Excluded from school. This is for your safety so now it is down to you to do your part. If you know anyone using drugs let someone know.

Mephedrone.
What is mephedrone? Mephedrone (often called ‘meow meow’) is a powerful stimulant and belongs to a group of drugs that are closely related to the amphetamines – including amphetamine itself (often called ‘speed’), methamphetamine and ecstasy. There is very little evidence about mephedrone and what long-term effects it has, but there have reports of people hospitalised due to
the short-term effects. Also, you can never be entirely sure that what you’re buying is actually mephedrone and not something else.

What does mephedrone do?
Mephedrone is often described as a mix between amphetamines, ecstasy and cocaine. The effects of mephedrone last for about an hour, but this can vary.
It can make you feel alert, confident, talkative and euphoric – and some people will temporarily feel strong affection to those around them
Mephedrone can make users feel sick, paranoid and anxious, and it can cause vomiting and headaches.
It risks overstimulating and damaging your heart and your circulation.
It also risks overstimulating your nervous system, which may cause hallucinations, feelings of agitation and even fits.
It can reduce your appetite, so you don’t feel hungry.
Other effects that people have reported include heart palpitations, insomnia, loss of short-term memory, vertigo (a form of dizziness), grinding of teeth, sweating and uncomfortable changes in body temperature.

The Risks.

Taking mephedrone does involve risks – and the dangers and long-term effects are becoming clearer as more reports emerge. Here’s what we know:
Users have reported blue or cold fingers – this is probably because mephedrone affects the heart and the circulation.
Some users have also had severe nosebleeds after snorting mephedrone.
There were six deaths involving mephedrone reported in 2010 in England and Wales.
Overheating has been a significant cause of deaths when other amphetamine-type drugs, such as ecstasy, have been used along with mephedrone.
Mephedrone and alcohol
You increase the risks to yourself if you combine alcohol with mephedrone or any other drug that causes a ‘high’ – including increasing the risk of death.

Mephedrone and the law
Mephedrone is a Class B drug – so it’s illegal to have for yourself, give away or sell.
Possession is illegal and can get you up to five years in jail and/or an unlimited fine.
Supplying someone else, even your friends, can get you fourteen years in jail and/or an unlimited fine.
What if you’re caught?
If the Police catch you with mephedrone, they’ll always take some action. This could include a formal caution, arrest and prosecution.
A conviction for a drug-related offence could have a serious impact. It can stop you visiting certain countries – for example the United States – and limit the types of jobs you can apply for.
Did you know?
Like drinking and driving, driving when high is illegal - and you can still be unfit to drive the day after using mephedrone. You can get a heavy fine, be disqualified from driving or even go to prison.
Allowing other people to use drugs in your house or any other premises is illegal. If the police catch someone using drugs in a club they can prosecute the landlord, club owner or person holding the party.

Lions on the Line!

Lions; Big cats weighing approximately 250kg, usually found in places such as Africa and Asia. So, a surprise then when railway passengers were informed that trains would be halted after West Yorkshire police had received two sightings from members of the public of the predators prowling around the railway line! Despite such an occurrence being extremely unlikely, the police were convinced that the reports were genuine and dispatched an entire fleet of officers as well as a police helicopter to the scene.

The reports described a lioness and her cub at around 3:30pm. Some passengers were forced to stay seated for up to 2 hours while the investigation was taking place. However, predictably, nothing was found and officers resumed all services. After the fright, inspectors told the public that if any more lions were sighted then the search would continue.

A similar search took place in May, when reports suggested a white tiger was spotted in a field in Hampshire. Unfortunately, their efforts were proved worthless when they discovered that it was actually just a stuffed toy…

Fifa Drop Poppy Ban

FIFA have dropped their ban and now on Saturday's friendly against Spain, English footballers can wear a Poppy on their black armbands.

This comes after previous outcry over the ban, which coincides with the rule that bans symbols on shirts, being deemed as 'ridiculous' and 'disgraceful'.

All 90,000 tickets have been sold for the home-match and if the ban had not been lifted and the Poppy's worn, the referee could have refused to begin the match.

9 Women Resuced From Fake Big Brother House

9 women have been rescued by military police in Turkey after they were tricked into entering a house believing it to be the major reality-show Big Brother.

The 9 women were told to sign contracts before entering the house which bound them into staying for a minimum of 2 months otherwise they would be forced to pay a 50,000 Turkish Lira(£20,500) fine. When family members were denied any contact at all with their loved ones, they alerted the authories who quickly organised a raid on the villa in which they were staying.

The men running this staged 'game-show' reportedly were selling naked photos of the women who stayed at the house, one of whom aged just 15.

Huge asteroid to pass by Earth

A huge asteroid to pass by Earth, BUT it won't hit us! A 400m-wide asteroid is passing by the Earth on Tuesday and will be closest to us just before midnight. The Strange rock is called 2005 YU55, this asteroid will come within 202,000 miles. This is actually closer to the moon than it is to the earth. The rock is that big, it is the biggest rock since 1976 so this means the next one won't be until 2028. If you have a telescope longer than 15cm and your lucky, you might be able to see the asteroid pass by but you will not be able to see the rock with just your eyes!

M5 Motorway Crash

On the northbound section of the M5 7 people were comfirmed dead, 51 injured and a wopping 28 cars and six lorrys were involved. This crash is the biggest one in 20 YEARS!!!

Police expected the number of dead to go into double figures once they have all been removed from the scene. Most of the injured lost their familys. Many of the cars were melted to the tarmac by a big fireball which was 100 yards long. 4 of the 7 comfirmed dead were in 1 car. There were a number of explosions and black smoke. It’s not something you expect to see on the motorway, it was more like a scene from Afghanistan.

The accident occurred at 8.25pm on Friday after a bank of fog or smoke 200 yards thick enveloped a section of the M5 between junctions 24 and 25, close to Taunton. The pile-up appeared to have begun when an Iceland lorry entered a fog which one motorist said was “like emulsion”. Police said vehicles were “immediately alight” after the crash as a “massive fireball” engulfed the carriageway. Mobile phone footage showed members of the public desperately trying to pry open vehicle doors in an attempt to rescue those trapped inside.

Witnesses spoke of hearing the screams of men, women and children. One man who rescued people from burning cars had to dodge debris “like shrapnel”.
The scale of the fire left many cars unrecognisable and the scene was described as a “mash of many, many vehicles”.

.Be Safe, Be Aware.

Two girls yesterday night were followed home at around 8.15 by a white male driving a greeny blue Citeron car, the man drove slowly behind them and the girls ran down a nearby street. The man in the car drove to the other end of the road and waited for them, the girls ran and waited in a garden then ran straight home (luckily they got away). As soon as they got home, their parents rang the police. The police are now aware and dealing with the situation.

When your on your way home and its dark, keep aware of what is around you. Make sure you have your phone on and don't have both headphones on !!!

Asteroid To Creep Past Earth

Telescopes at the ready; as on November the 8th an asteroid the size of an aircraft carrier will fly past earth, making it the closest pass by a space rock of this size for over 35 years. The asteroid, nicknamed 2005 YU55, will slowly creep by at just 9 degrees per hour. It will apparently come within 201,700 miles of earth (85% of the distance between the earth and the moon). The next time something as rare as this occurs will be in 2028!

The asteroid was first discovered in 2005 by astronomers. It measures 400 meters wide, and makes a single lap around the sun approximately every 15 months. It is the first time it has ever come close to earth. Fortunately for mankind, it’s not going to slam into the earth like a homing missile, leaving a huge crater in its path. Neither is it going to split the moon into billions of tiny pieces. No significant effect will be caused… apparently…

If you're interested in astronomy, and you have a decent telescope, you will possibly be able to see 2005 YU55. It will make its closest approach at 23:28 GMT. Happy asteroid spotting!
