Louis Smith King Of The Dance Floor!

Gymnast Louis Smith wins Strictly Come Dancing

On Saturday night (the 22nd) it was the live final of Strictly Come Dancing 2012, this took place in two half's the first half was at 6:30, and the second half was at 8:50 (after Merlin).

In the first half the four remaining couples took to the floor and performed two dances each, one that they had already performed earlier on in the competition and a new dance that they hadn't already performed. Louis Smith performed his second dance without his t-shirt on which was a nice sight for all the ladies.
The judges gave them their honest opinions and votes. After each couple had performed both dances and received their scores the phone lines then opened.
The first half finished at 7:50 so that BBC1 could show Merlin. The results half of the live final started at 8:50.

When the second half started all four couples were lined up in the middle of the dance floor because the lines had closed and votes had been counted. It was out of Denise Van Outen, Dani Harmer, Kimberly Walsh and Louis Smith. And the fourth place went to Dani Harmer. Now the remaining three couples were on the home straight, so close to the glitter ball trophy. Each couple had one more dance just one their favourite dance, out of all the dances  that they have performed on Strictly they had to chose their most favourite. Denise danced her Egyptian Charleston, Kimberly danced her Tango and Louis danced his funny doctor Charleston. After each couple had performed their last dance they had a special performance of Robbie Williams singing his new song. Then while the three finalists sat and watched from up in the balcony the other Strictly Come  Dancing contestants took to the floor for a last group performance.  The lines had closed and all the scores had been added together including the votes from the first half. The glitter ball was in the middle of the floor and the three finalists were lined up behind it. the building went silent while Bruce announced the winner "And the winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2012 is............ LOUIS SMITH" Everyone was on their feet and I bet that everyone at home was on their feet as well I know I was, as soon as Bruce said Louis Smith I took off, of the sofa screaming because I was so happy right from the beginning I wanted Louis to win and it maid my day when he did.

Now Louis has won two silvers and from this a GOLD!!! in 2012.
In this years competition Louis was the youngest competitor as he is 23-years-old.
In the beginning weeks of the show he did struggle and suffer several injuries throughout the series.
And if your a strictly fan then be sure to watch the Strictly Christmas special at 6:15 on Christmas day.

Who Is In The Strictly Come Dancing Final?

The Strictly Come Dancing finalists; Louis Smith, Kimberley Walsh, Dani Harmer and Denise Van Outen

The final four have been revealed but only one of them will be crowned King or Queen of the dance floor.

Dani Harmer

Dani Harmer

The CBBC star Dani Harmer has performed constantly well during the competition so far. She's never had the highest score on the leader board, however she has never been in the last two either. With the right dance in the final, the Tracy Beaker star might have a chance of taking home the Strictly Come Dancing glitter-ball; trophy!

In the semi final Len said:"The more I see you dance, the more I like what I see!"

Louis Smith

Louis Smith

In this years Strictly Come Dancing final the Olympic silver medallist Louis is the boy standing. The gymnast has topped the judges scores three times and like Dani Harmer he has never been in the bottom two.

In the semi-final, Bruno said: "Your improvement as a performer in the past few weeks really is incredible."

Denise Van Outen

Denise Van Outen

Denise is no stranger to dancing - during her time working in the West End she wowed them when she performed in Chicago and Legally Blonde - but until she joined Strictly she had never trained in ballroom dancing. Denise has topped the judges' vote the most tomes - but unlike Dani and Louis she has been in the bottom two.

In the semi-final, Darcey said: "You have the feeling right to your fingertips and that's so unusual to see."

Kimberley Walsh

Kimberley Walsh

Pop star Kimberley has had a lot of performing experience so isn't afraid to strut her stuff in front of an audience- her group Girls Aloud sang this years Children In Need song 'Somthing New.' and are celebrating 10 years of hits. She topped the judges scores in week 10, but like Denise Kimberley has been in the bottom two.
In the semi final Bruno said: "The way you interpret the music is absolutely fantastic to see. It runs through your body... you become one with it."

Gangnam Style passes 1 Billion views

Haters of Justin Bieber, rejoice! First came the overtaking, now PSY's hugely (and somewhat strangely) popular 'Gangnam Style' has become the first video in YouTube history to pass the sacred one billion mark. This comes less than a month after it became the most watched YouTube video ever.

As of December 22nd, 2012, it has received 1.01 billion hits and has been viewed at the rate of 8-10 million views per day. The song has topped the charts in over 30 countries and continues to do exceptionally well. Gangnam Style was predicted by analysts to reach the billion mark in December, proving not all predictions are entirely false. (December 21st, we're looking at you...)

It is estimated that Gangnam Style has generated £5 million through online success alone. This figure is only going to increase until the song is exhausted to its last legs and put to rest - a day many are praying for.

Labrador Saves Owners Life.

Paul McKenzie, who has diabetes and a condition that affects his nervous system, owes his life to his assistance dog Millie after the animal alerted paramedics when she found her owner collapsed at home in Derrington, Staffs. His blood sugars had plummeted to dangerously low levels.

The 47-year old has an emergency button installed at home, which Millie will press on command if he needs help. But amazingly, the black Labrador pressed the button of her own accord when she found her owner unconscious - incredibly, seeming to understand that pushing the button meant help would arrive. Paramedics rushed Mr McKenzie to Stafford hospital, where doctors battled to get his sugar levels back up. He has since made a full recovery but credits Millie with saving his life.

"Millie is my very own Lassie. She saved my life and if it wasn't for her I wouldn't be here now," he said.

Shop Worker Attacks Armed Robber!

Footage captured on the surveillance cameras of G&B Grocery Store in Spokane, Washington shows an armed man entering the shop with his face covered, then pointing a gun at customers.

Kulwant Singh, who was behind the register, began taking money out of the till, but his brother Bittu Singh, who also works in the shop, ran towards the man. The armed man fired a shot, which hit the floor, then attempted to flee the shop, but Bittu Singh tackled him to the ground, then held him down, with the help of his brother and a customer, until police arrived. The man has been charged with one count of robbery and six counts of assault.

What? You're Still Reading This? So Much For 2012...

The people of this very planet, breathe a sigh of relief (or for some embarrassment). The cataclysmic, apocalyptic day that was the 21st of December, 2012 turned out to be a load of hot air, much to the benefit of humankind. Clearly though, fear clenched much of the population as uncertainty lead many to believe there was something we were not being told.

December 21st signifies the end of the Mayan calendar; marking the end of an era. Unfortunately, something must have got lost in translation as immediately panic arose. This was despite the fact that the end of the world has been predicted on numerous occasions since the dawn of time - needless to say none were correct. Theories on how the earth could have met it's inevitable doom included a collision with a meteor or planet, a solar storm, switching of the poles and countless other arguments mainly created by people wanting to get themselves famous.

The human race lives on for another year - at least until the next 'end of the world' drives more into a unnecessary state of insomnia. A dark glimpse into the future suggests this may be as early as May 19th, 2013, according to Ronald Weinland, although this is much less supported than 2012. A more scientific and positive approach may be the year 5,000,000,000. At this time the sun will stop it's development and swell into a red giant - never good news for a planet. Human life is a different story, earth will apparently be uninhabitable by the year 1,000,000,000 due to the intense heat. As for the fate of the universe, that lies in the year 10 to the power of 100. This is known as heat death, widely accepted as the end of the universe. It will put the universe into a state where it would be impossible to sustain any life.

So, on a more positive note, the end of the world shouldn't happen in our lifetimes. Or even somebody else's lifetime. Stop worrying and get on with your lives!

Carrots this Christmas.

Factories are worried that most people's Christmas dinners will be ruined because carrots, one of the main vegetables are not plentiful because of this year's weather.

The carrots have been either frozen, had too much water or not enough fertiliser. So, you may not have a proper Christmas dinner.

McDonald's Waitress Wins £3,000 Compensation For Being Fired.

Sarah Finch, 19, was fired for giving extra chocolate topping to a workmate on a 99p McFlurry.

Miss Finch took the McDonald's restaurant to an employment tribunal after her bosses accused her of giving away food without payment. The unfair dismissal claim was settled out of court and she was awarded more than £3,000 in compensation. Miss Finch said in a statement: "I was dismissed on the grounds of gross misconduct. I was accused of stealing food.

"The matter was trivial, in that I provided a fellow employee, who was purchasing a dessert, a generous sprinkling of chocolate pieces."

Lucky British Students Get To Test Super Cool Interactive Desks!

A group of lucky 8-10 year olds have been involved in a super-exciting experiment - To see if replacing traditional pencil and paper with hi-tech interactive desks would help improve their math skills! The children have been using the interesting technology for 3 years.  But before we tell you the result, let’s talk about the new desks…

Britain’s Durham University and SynergyNet research projects thought of the product and aimed at enhancing classroom learning through technology, it involved 400 students across 12 schools in North East Britain. The interactive desks were fitted with interesting software that responded to touch-based commands enabled by vision systems that could detect infrared light. The teacher obviously needs to see the work that the children have done so, the desks were wired to a Smart Board, which allowed the teacher to assign math problems for the students to solve solo or as a group.

That’s not all; the interactive board gets better... The educator could interactively assign different problems to different groups and send one group's answer to another, to see if they agreed. Also, a smart feed provided the educator with instant feedback, which enabled him/her to assist students that were struggling with a concept, while allowing the rest of the group to continue forging ahead. Plus, if the whole class are having problems…  The teacher could simply post it on the whiteboard and explain it to them at the same time. Though the study was used exclusively for math, the desks could easily be used to teach other subjects as well.

As a result after looking at the desks, they revealed what most of you could have predicted by simply looking at the desks - 45% of the test students improved their math skills as opposed to just 16% when the same lessons were taught using traditional methods.

But don’t throw your pen and pencil away just yet because… these desks are not about to come to your school anytime soon. This is because it’s new and cool, also they are currently too expensive to go mainstream and they take a lot of time to set up. Even though 400 lucky students were able to keep theirs as a reward for taking part in this rather 'grueling' study!

Should Cloning Take Place?

Have you ever wished you could have a clone of yourself to do homework, while you hit the skate park with your friends?
Well…Over the past few years, the ethics of human and animal cloning has become a great issue. The advocates for both sides of this argument have many reasons to clone and not to clone. Cloning is the creation of an organism that is an exact genetic copy of another. This means that every single bit of DNA is the same between the two! You may not believe it, but there are human clones among us right now.

Those who support cloning see quite definite benefits in carrying out research.
Some of the more common arguments are:
Nature is already a cloning organism. For example, the strawberry plant, potatoes, grass and bacteria. Also it could able people to raise an identical child after an unfortunate death. Plus cloning would be useful to have the ability to clone genetic modified animals. These animals could include cows that produce milk with no lactose, which would help people who are allergic to lactose.

On the other hand cloning is a very sensitive subject. The cloning debate attracts quite passionate objections from people. Lots of people say… Just because we can clone, doesn’t mean we should! A very large percentage of cloning efforts end up in failure. For instance, it took 277 attempts to clone Dolly the sheep. Often clones don’t live as long as sexually reproduced animals, possibly because the genes taken from adults are more likely to have undergone mutations. Cloning can be very upsetting. In January 2001 a little baby gaur was cloned. Unfortunately the animal only survived for 48 hours, this makes me feel that cloning should not be developed any further. Most importantly cloning will stop genetic improvements to a species. This is because genetic improvements usually occur through sexual reproduction, which result in a mixing of the genes of the mother and father. If we try to clone endangered species, then we will put the females of the species at risk.

One must understand that cloning does not produce an exact copy of the person or animal being cloned. What cloning does, is that it copies the DNA/genes of the person/animal and creates a duplicate genetically. In conclusion I think cloning should stop, it shouldn’t really develop any further. Apart from the odd chance, cloning makes people end up in tears. Maybe having a clone of your self won’t be as good after all.

Kevin Barron visits DCS!

Kevin Barron being greeted by Mr Blackwell and Mr Welch.
Last Friday students from all years were gathered in ME1 for a visit from Labour MP and representative for the Rother Valley area Kevin Barron who turned up despite the dreary weather to speak to pupils as part of Film Club and to answer questions, some of which were based around Suzzanne Collins' "The Hunger Games" which explores Totalitarian regimes and democracy. On his arrival Mr. Barron was greeted by Mr. Blackwell and Mr. Welch before addressing the group.

After a short, simple (albeit predicatably poorly acted) film in which two children interviewed various people about their views on democracy. Mr Barron took center stage and spoke about his role in the Rother Valley area and how he sees areas such as Dinnington developing in the future but said it is "Up to your (our) generation".

He also spoke of his past and how his late wife attended university later on in her life before urging that all children seriously consider further education as it will "Help you out massivley".

Mr Barron then allowed pupils to direct questions to him around topics which varied from "The Hunger Games" to politicians wages to area development and why sometimes in politics you have to really push for what you feel your area needs, in Kevin Barron's case it was the installation of a new roundabout which took nearly 30 years to pass!

On occasion Mr Barron would drift off from a question with a story of his career or his past to help emphasise his point which seemed to fascinate the younger students but after a while the charm appeared to wear thin on the sixth form / staff.

After around an hour long stay the MP wrapped up his visit by posing for photographs with members of the school and after the usual hand shaking and shoulder grabbing which I'm sure a politician who does as many site visits as Mr Barron claims to do must seem like second nature, he departed with a final wave of his hand.

On a whole the meet and greet seemed to have a possitive affect on the class who (more or less) seemed pleased to get the opportunity to speak with a member of parliament and put their views across.
Sixth formers listening to Mr Barron.

A video on democracy was shown upon Kevin Barron's arrival.

PC Halts Nativity Play To Order Parents To Move Cars.

Christmas may be heading here fast but the festive spirit was in short surply at a Surrey prep school, after a policeman stoped the nativity due to bad parking!

Pupils at the school in Smallfeild where mid way though there performance of tinsle and teatowels, a modern take on the traditional nativity, when a police man walked in.

PC Paul Baker told parents they were blocking the pavements outside and preventing patients at a nearby doctor's surgery from parking.

He then demanded the nativity play be stopped, only 15 minutes into the performance, and ordered parents to move their cars.

But some parents, angry that they were forced to miss their children's time in the limelight, accused the policeman of "petty meddling" and being "heavy-handed".

One uncle of a pupil, who asked to remain anonymous, said:"Most of the parents were shocked as they thought someone had committed a serious crime. They thought they were going to be arrested!"

A Shocking Start To Christmas For Little Billy!

little boy thrown three of four feet after electric shock from fibre optic christmas treeA young boy named Billy Allard, only two years old got a nasty electric shock while being hurdled across the room after he tried to put the Christmas tree decorations on. His mother had to take him to hospital because of how serious the burns on his nose and hands were. He had 240 volts zapped in to him and his mother said that she had checked the tree and only left the plug in. She claimed that she got the Christmas tree from Argos and it was a fiber optic tree only 1.8m (6ft) and it was half price £30. They tried to put up another tree but all Billy said was "NO TREE NO TREE!" Argos apologized and said they were going to review the case and see what happened because nothing like that had ever happened before with those trees to anyone or anything, they were so shocked when they headr this story.

The Special Day Of 12/12/12

There have been a lot of spectacular events held today as it is the 12/12/12 and it is the last possible date like this till 3012 as we can't have 13/13/13. Here are some of them:

The '12' Baby:
A now 12 year-old boy has celebrated his spectacular birthday today.

Kiam Moriya was born on the 12 of December 2000 at 12 minuets past midday in Broxville, New York. He was originally due in January/February but was seven weeks premature. Today, he started his party at exactly 12:12, which was the time he was born, and he told AL.com "It's one minute out of a whole lifetime. If I was born a minute too early or late I wouldn't have had such a spectacular birthday!"

10, 11 and 12 couple:
An Indian couple have decided to make sure they don't forget their marriage as they take advantage of the all 10, 11 and 12 dates.

Brandon Pereira proposed to his girlfriend, Emilia D'Silva, at 10 o'clock two years ago on the 10/10/10. Last year Brandon and Emilia registered a legal marriage on the 11/11/11. And to finish it all off today, 12/12/12, at 12 o'clock they got married. Emilia said she had declined Brandon's offer of marriage many times before he persuaded her in their 10th of year of dating, when the first lucky date was approaching.

One Day on Earth:
Documentary makers across the globe today have simultaneously recorded what they do today as it is the 12/12/12.

They also did this on the 10/10/10 and the 11/11/11 and decided that they would do this year too as it will be the last date like this for another 1000 years. The organisation that decided to do this decided to name the films A Day on Earth.

Apple Maps Are Dangerous

There have been many controversies following the release of Apple's Maps, piles of complaints have been made by the public and improvements are yet to be seen. Recently a couple of drivers were supposedly 'guided' to Mildura, in Australia, but ended up 70km away from the actual location; and were left without any food or water for 24 hours. Police have described the piece of software as 'life-threatening' due to the fact that the maps are so inaccurate.
Tim Cook, the chief executive, admitted that they have "screwed up" and promised that the maps app will be seeing an update in the near future.
A senior sergeant, Sharon Darcy, who works for Victoria Police stated "Tests on the mapping system by police confirm the mapping system lists Mildura in the middle of the Murray Sunset National Park, approximately 45 miles away from the actual location of Mildura." The temperatures in the park can reach 46 degrees in the height of summer, therefore police are extremely concerned about the public's welfare because there is no water supply close by. Travelers have been advised to use a different mapping software for the time being, otherwise there could be some serious incidents involving Apple Maps.

Many people want Apple to Bring Google Maps back to iOS so they can be sure they're not heading in the wrong direction. The tech giants need to publish an update before the start of 2013, or many customers may loose interest. Be sure to use Apple Maps with care, or you might end up driving to the North Pole.

The Winner Of X-Factor 2012...

XFactorTitles.jpgThe X-Factor is a British television music competition to find new singing talent, contested by singers drawn from the public auditions. This show was created by Simon Cowell as the show began in September 2004 and has since aired annually from August/September through to December.

After months and months of the singing competition, it has all come down to this... It was out of Jahmene Douglas or James Arthur to win the final of the X-Factor and I am glad to say that James Arthur was the lucky winner of the X-Factor and has since been celebrating his victory.

In fact, James received most of the public votes from Sunday’s final and because of his win, James has won a recording contract and his first ever single! James has recently said: “I don’t believe it... I've just got to say thank you to the people who voted for me!”
James and Nicole
James showing his mentor "Nicole" his home town.

Personally I wanted James to win as he is a great and a worthy young man who will hopefully become very popular in the music industry later on in the years to come. However, at the same time I think that both men were just as good as each other. So I congratulate them both on getting that far.

Well done James, the very best of luck for the future.

Will The World End On The 21st Of December 2012?

There are many different theories going around about the world ending on the 21st of December. Here are some of the theories.

Mayan Calendar Theory:

an inscription in Mayan characters
Mayan Calendar
The Mayan Calendar is a 5,125 year 'Long Count' that ends on the 21st of December 2012. Most people aren't taking this lightly and are ready for the Apocalypse. Some Americans have bought guns, supplies and shelters to ride out the Apocalypse. But this calendar has nothing what-so-ever to do with our calendar and probably won't symbolise the end of the world.

A white, glowing, cloudlike feature lies surrounded by bright blue stars in a brownish, golden nebula
Sagittarius A*
Galactic Alignment Apocalyptic Theory:

There is a number of alignment theories which could mean the end of the world. One of the theories is that when the galactic alignment apocalyptic occurs, where the sun is in between the earth and Sagittarius A* a massive black hole in the centre of our galaxy, on December 21st, it would create great havoc on Earth like earthquakes, Tsunamis etc. But this has already happened in 1988 and nothing happened.

Solar Flares + Weak Magnetic Field Theory:

Another theory is that a geomagnetic reversal or a pole reversal will be triggered by solar flares, brief eruptians of radiation from the sun's surface, and it would release the same amount of energy as 100million atomic bombs. This theory is supported by the fact that scientists observing the magnetic field have noticed that it has been getting weaker and weaker. This could precede a reversal of the North and South magnetic fields and the arrival of the next solar maximum, which is expected sometime around 2012.

Most scientific estimates, however, say that geomagnetic reversals take between 1,000 and 10,000 years to complete and do not start on any particular date.

There have been many theories this year of the world ending but none have them have actually happened so what's to say that this one won't be true? In my opinion I think that it won't happen, and that people shouldn't be worried.

Take Me Out Christmas Special

Take Me Out is a British dating game show hosted by Paddy McGuinness. It began airing on ITV in the UK and TV3 in the Republic of Ireland on the 2nd of January 2010. The pilot episode was for Channel 4 in 2009. It is based on the original Australian show Taken Out. In September 2010, TV3 started broadcasting an Irish version of the show.

We all know that Take Me Out stars women who are looking for a man to date. A secret man comes down the lift and it’s up to the girls to decide whether he is the man for them by listening and watching information about the man in different rounds. Now that has been the rota for ages now, however coming soon to ITV is an Take Me Out Christmas Special. Here instead of a ordinary man coming down the lift, 3 male celebrities will be making their way down instead.
The three male celebrities that will be showing their faces on TV are: Joe Swash, Keith Lemon and Matt Johnson!

Joseph Swash was born on the 20th of January 1982 in Islington, London. He is an English presenter and actor. He once played Mickey Miller in EastEnders.

Keith Lemon is a fictional character portrayed by English comedian Leigh Francis. He first appeared in the short-lived Whatever I Want in 2000, before later going on to make several appearances in Francis' sketch comedy Bo' Selecta!.

Matt Johnson was born on the 18th of November 1982 and he is a Welsh TV presenter/host and personality best known for his role as interactive Hub presenter for ITV1's This Morning and former co-host of Channel 5's OK! TV. He was born in Caerphilly, and lives in London.

A Cockatoo Sings To Gangnam Style!

Gangnam Style is a K-pop single by the South Korean music artist ‘PSY.’ The song was released on July the 15th 2012. Gangnam Style debuted at number one on the Gaon Chart, the national record chart of South Korea. As of November the 28th 2012, the music video has been viewed over 840 million times on YouTube, and is the site's most watched video after surpassing Justin Bieber's single "Baby".
I’m sure we all know what the popular music song known as ‘Gangnam Style’ by PSY is, and I’m sure we have at least once heard his song sung on the TV, radio etc. But just imagine the song being sung by a Cockatoo!
Yes you heard me right, a Cockatoo! Not long ago a pet Cockatoo was captured on video singing to Gangnam Style and has become hugely popular upon Youtube.  The family pet has taken a real liking to the song and strangely learned to join in and sing along to the words while bobbing along to the beat!
I wonder if it will ever become as popular as the official Gangnam Style?

WW2 Pigeon Message Code Can't Be Read!

A secret code from a dead pigeon has stumped the Britain's top code-breakers.
The bones from the spy bird were found in a chimney in Surrey with a message attached to its foot from World War II.
Experts have been trying to figure out the code ever since they received the message a few weeks ago - but they haven't been able to understand it.
They are now asking the public to help them try and crack the code.
In World War II there were around 250,000 pigeons used to carry messages.
Agents used lots of different codes to send secret information to each other during the war.

WWII pigeon message still a mystery
