Cheryl Cole's isn't returning to the X-Factor!

Cheryl Cole has ruled out a return to the X Factor judging panel.

She tweeted "X Factor was a great experience and time in my life and career but is now part of my past... Please #letsmoveonnow #newnewspls Zzzzz *yawns*".

There had been rumours of her returning to the show after fellow judge Louis Walsh commented that she could perhaps be part of the line-up.

He had that he'd "love to see" Cheryl Cole back on the show.

Newspapers have been reporting that when asked about the panel, Louis said: "It will be Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Tulisa and perhaps Cheryl Cole."

It's not yet known if Kelly Rowland will be replaced for the next series. Cheryl Cole left the show's judging panel before the last series to be on the US version of the programme.

Two weeks after joining the US team though, she was taken off the show after rumours that American audiences couldn't understand her accent!

glass eye maker

In a tiny room in a north London suburb, Jost Haas the last glass eye maker.

He holds a glass tube over a bunsen burner, twirling it constantly, blows through the molten glass, and turns it into a sphere.

His patient Dan Light has only one working eye.

Haas uses coloured glass sticks to match the colour of that eye - not just the pattern of the iris, but the red veins of the sclera.

He also has to make the glass eye fit the shape of Dan's bad eye, and there is only one chance to get it right.

A glass eye is not, as you might think, like a large solid marble. It is a hollow half sphere, a thin shell that fits over the non-working eye, if it is still there. Otherwise it goes over a ball that has been surgically implanted into the eye socket and attached to the eye muscles.

Model agency Select sign up Cher Lloyd because of her 'vulnerable quirky beauty'

Cher Lloyd has been scouted by top model agency Select.

The 18-year-old, who's joined Select's Special Bookings Division, has already posed for a number of stylish shots, in which she bears little resemblance to the feisty teen who took part in The X Factor 2010.

'We are over the moon to welcome Cher,' says an agency spokesman.

'We spotted her extraordinary vulnerable quirky beauty at the start of her career and now we are delighted she has chosen our agency to represent her modelling career.

'Her strong individuality represents everything we love about the youth of today and their music.'

The agency believes Cher's possibilities in the world of fashion are 'endless' and that she'll soon be gracing the covers and pages of many magazines.

'She is a melting pot of different emotions, from super confidence oozing fun to a vulnerability that allows her followers to see her reflective side,' continues the spokesman.
'She prides herself on staying true to herself both in her music and in her style of dress and because of this, she is a photographer's dream.'

Pupils taught how to speak clearly

Children at a school in Essex are being given elocution lessons. This means they're being taught to speak clearly!
Teachers say  they don't want to change anyone's accent but some are still worried that doing this lesson will make them sound more 'posher' insted of making them sound clearer. Teachers also hope pupils will be understood better when they communicate with others. It's not only learning to speak more clearly it should also help childeren to spell more accuratly.

A hundred years ago, a famous story called Pygmalion was written by George Bernard Shaw, about a young lady called Eliza Doolittle - not the pop star, a different one!

£21,000 Watch Claimed.

A £21,000 Rolex watch that was found in a drain by a drain cleaner has been found.
Arron Large, 28, was cleaning a drain near Chalkwell railway station in Essex earlier this month when he found the watch among the dirt.He handed it in at his nearest police station but it had not been registered lost or stolen. If it had not been claimed, he would have been allowed to keep it.Today Essex Police said the owner had come forward to claim the yellow gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph from the Daytona collection. The watch was stolen from a nearby house in a burglary in September. It had huge sentimental value for its owner, as it was a gift from his wife who has since died.
The owner, who is in his fifties and did not want to be named, has thanked Mr Large and given him a reward for his ''integrity and honesty''.Pc Calley Mackay said: ''Arron made a really unusual find and had the decency and integrity to hand the Rolex watch in to police.''Our aim from the start was to locate the owner of this Rolex watch and we are now delighted to have been able to return it to its rightful owner.''This man was the victim of a burglary, who actually came home to find that his house had been ransacked and his possessions were stolen by the burglar, who fled from the scene.''She added: ''Arron's lucky streak continued, as he found three more watches hidden in drains in the following days.''These three watches are all now confirmed as replicas, of nominal value.''

Daley and Waterfield miss out on medals

Shocking news! Olympic hopefuls Tom Daley and Pete Waterfield have come a rather low seventh place at the Diving World Cup. Read on to see more...

Tom Daley and Pete Waterfield performed extremely well in five out of six diving routines at the new London Aquatics Centre and were third going into the last round. Going good so far...

But these to outstanding men made a devestating mistake when they attempted their newest dive - the '4.5 somersault'. Which costed them dearly!

As a result of this mistake they were marked down and it meant they finished down in seventh place, and without a medal. A very dissapointing result...

Here are what the divers said about their results...

"The 4.5 somersault is one of our newest dives and it's either make or break," said Daley.

"Today wasn't our day", he added. "We have to go out and learn from our mistakes."

Jabberwacky... Is it clever...

With the rise of the information age, there comes new technology which lets us talk to artificial intelligence/AI... Namely Jabberwacky who is a chat bot when you need someone to talk to, he/she responds to whatever you say, starting with a question. For example "Have you done anything useful today?" Or "What is your role in life?" And many other random questions. Also if you type something sometimes it just tries to start a different conversation and that is often extremely annoying especially when it is completely rnadomand has nothing to do with what you were saying at all for example "Chocolate isn't a fruit." Then "I am open for business." Which has nothing to do with chocolate. Additionally Jabberwacky is a girl or boy, you never know...

One Direction - One Thing

Ever since One Direction were on the X-Factor things have been going well for them. They've already bagged themselves a Brit Award nomination for Best Single and they will soon be touring in America with big time Russia in Febuary and March.

But Louis, Niall, Harry, Liam and Zayn haven't forgotten their British fans as they're bringing out their third single, One Thing. Is it any good?
Well you will soon find out because the boys are releasing there single on the 12th of Febuary.

I bet almost everyone will be humming this song as soon as you hear it. You many not realise but you will soon be telling the One Direction boys to "get out, get out, get out of my head"!

Do you think it will make the charts?
We're not sure about our chances of marrying Harry, but there's one thing I AM sure of - it's that this song will make the charts. Top five, I reckon.

Tell me one thing about what you like about the song!

Six year old gets payment she deserves

In 2006 a driver going 70mph on a 30mph road going the wrong side of the road in his parent's Range Rover hit a car with a baby in the front seat. The driver was Antonio Boparan Singh. The girl, Cerys Edwards, was paralysed and given irreprable brain damage. The sentence for dangerous driving at the time was not enough and the driver was given a sentence of 21 months but was let out on 6 months. The family organised a petition of 30,000 to raise the penalty as even the judge agreed it wasn't enough. The penalty was then raised to 5 years in prison which still isn't enough but is on the right track.

Singh's insurers will pay Cerys a lump sum of £5m, plus £450,000 a year for the rest of her life, which her lawyer estimates could be worth between £10-£15m.

"She has a 24-hour package of carers and nurses looking after her because she's paralysed and brain damaged, she can't move and is ventilator dependent so it's not a lottery winning, it's money that's needed for her care.
Today the judge made the very telling point that no amount of money can actually turn back the clock or make a difference to Cerys' injuries but at least it gives the parents security for the future. They know whatever happens there'll be enough funds to pay for Cerys' care." quoted the family's solicitor Richard Langton.

The six year old will never walk and will never be able to dress herself. She will never grow up the same as those the same age as herself.Cerys Edwards(6)

Cyber Bullying

Cyberbullying is the use of the Internet and other technologies to harm other people, in a deliberate manner. As it has become more common in society, particularly among young people, legislation and awareness campaigns have arisen to battle it.

We all know what cyber bullying isn't nice to do online but if this does happen to you, here are the steps what to do if somebody starts to bully you...

Text\Video Messaging:
- Don't reply to text messaging or video messaging. Your mobile service provider e.g. Orange, T Mobile, Vodaphone etc. should have a number that you can ring to report abusive messaging.
- Be careful who you give phone numbers to and don't leave your mobile lying around when you are not there.

Chatrooms or Instant Messaging:
- Do not give out personal information.
- Give yourself an alias that doesn't give out anything about your age, gender or location.
- Don't respond to abusive posting - ignore them or log off.
- Think about what you write - it is very easy for people to get the wrong idea about what you write or how you write it.

Email:
- If you receive a nasty or abusive email, don't reply.
- The email can also come from people that you don't know, email addresses are fairly easy for companies to obtain on the internet. Under no circumstances should you reply to these types of email, even if they have a Click here.

Web:
- If the cyberbullying is on a school or community website, do as you would do if the bullying was face to face - tell someone like your parents or teachers.

England Squad Announced

Caretaker manager Stuart Pearce has named his England squad for next week's friendly against Holland.
As expected, the Under-21 coach has included a few surprise younger players in the squad.
Both Manchester United's Tom Cleverly and Sunderland striker Frazier Campbell are set to get their first international caps.
But there are no spots for veterans Rio Ferdinand or Frank Lampard. John Terry is also missing from the line-up due to an injury. The Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is due to make his first appearance on the pitch for England since 2010. It's expected that he will take on the captain's arm band in place of Terry who had the title taken away by the FA last month after he was accused of racial abuse.

War Journalists Killed

Whilst covering the violence in Homs, Syria an American Jounalist named Marie Colvin was killed in a bombing attack. Other people, including French photographer Remi Ochlik, were killed when the blast hit the media centre where the journalists were working.
She lost her sight in one eye after being hit by shrapnel in Sri Lanka in 2001. She had been a BBC reporter for  20 years and had been in many warzones, that is where she lost half of her sight 11 years ago.

Googles futuristic glasses

Google is apparently developing new futuristic glasses that could spell the end
for mobile phones.

The specs would have screens (instead of lenses) to show text messages, emails
and webpages.

The device would have a camera on, to allow you to see what your eyes would
normally be looking at!

According to newspapers, the glasses could be available to buy by the end of
the year.

I know what i want for my birthday now.

Chronicle Film Review

Three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides. (IMDB.com)

After watching the trailer for this film I could not wait to see it on the big screen. It looked amazing!

I was not disappointed. This film keeps you on the edge of your seat and shocks you with an unpredictable plot. I can not fault this film, the actors were excellent, the plot was mad, the held hand camera moves were well done.

I give Chronicle 4 stars out of 5. Go check it out at the cinema!

Here is the trailer.

Transformers 4 is happening!!!

It's official!!

Michael Bay will be directing it and the film will be released on the 27th June 2014.
There is no news on the plot or if the original cast are returning. It is also unclear if this is a reboot or sequel.

I can't wait for this!! I'm a huge transformer fan so I will keep you updated on any news.

How to make a perfect pancake!

Try this basic pancake recipe made by the cbbc, adapted from celeb chef Delia Smith, to make enough mixture for 12-14 pancakes. Yum!

But don't forget to ask your mum and dad to help otherwise things may end up as a disaster!

For the pancake mixture:

  • 110g/4oz plain flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 200ml/7fl oz milk mixed with 75ml/3fl oz water
  • 50g/2oz butter

To serve:

  • caster sugar
  • lemon juice
  • lemon wedges
  • (NR TIP: you can try anything you like - be imaginative! You could try fruit and maple syrup, chocolate spread, ice cream, melted chocolate... yum)

Instructions

Sift the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl.

Make a well in the centre of the flour and break the eggs into it.

Begin whisking the eggs.

Gradually add small quantities of the milk and water mixture, still whisking.

Whisk until all the liquid has been added and the batter has the consistency of thin cream.

Melt the butter in a pan.

Spoon 2 tbsp of it into the batter and whisk it in. Use the rest of the butter to grease the frying pan before you make each pancake.

Get the pan really hot, then turn the heat down to medium - be really careful doing this bit. You might want to get your mum and dad to help at this point!

Ladle 2 tbsp of the batter into the hot pan all in one go.

Tip it around from side to side to get the base evenly coated with batter.

After about half a minute, and when the bottom is golden in colour, flip the pancake over.

The other side will only need a few seconds to cook.

Slide the pancake out of the pan onto a plate.

To serve, sprinkle each pancake with freshly squeezed lemon juice and caster sugar.

Enjoy!

Ice Age Flower Found By Russians

An entire flower from the ice age has been resurrected by Russian scientists in a pioneering experiment that could pave the way for the revival of other species including the Mammoth.

They say the Silene stenophylla is the oldest plant ever to be regenerated and is fertile, producing white flowers and viable seeds. The raw material for the project was fruit tissues from an Ice Age squirrel's chamber, a burrow containing fruit and seeds that had been stuck in the Siberian permafrost for over 30,000 years. The Russians said the experiment proves that permafrost serves as a natural depository for ancient life forms. They published their findings in Tuesday's "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences" of the United States."We consider it essential to continue permafrost studies in search of an ancient genetic pool, that of pre-existing life, which hypothetically has long since vanished from the earth's surface," the scientists said in the article.Canadian researchers had earlier regenerated some significantly younger plants from seeds found in burrows.

Svetlana Yashina of the Institute of Cell Biophysics of the Russian Academy Of Sciences, who led the regeneration effort, said the revived plant looked very similar to its modern version, which still grows in the same area in northeastern Siberia."It's a very viable plant, and it adapts really well," she told The Associated Press in a telephone interview from the Russian town of Pushchino where her lab is located. She voiced hope the team could continue its work and regenerate more plant species. The Russian research team recovered the fruit after investigating dozens of fossil burrows hidden in ice deposits on the right bank of the lower Kolyma River in northeastern Siberia, the sediments dating back 30,000-32,000 years.

The sediments were firmly cemented together and often totally filled with ice, making any water infiltration impossible – creating a natural freezing chamber fully isolated from the surface."The squirrels dug the frozen ground to build their burrows, which are about the size of a soccer ball, putting in hay first and then animal fur for a perfect storage chamber," said Stanislav Gubin, one of the authors of the study, who spent years rummaging through the area for squirrel burrows. "It's a natural cryobank."The burrows were located 125 feet below the present surface in layers containing bones of large mammals, such as mammoth, woolly rhinoceros, bison, horse and deer.

The group says the study has demonstrated that tissue can survive ice conservation for tens of thousands of years, opening the way to the possible resurrection of Ice Age mammals."If we are lucky, we can find some frozen squirrel tissue," Dr Gubin told The Associated Press. "And this path could lead us all the way to mammoth."Japanese scientists are already searching in the same area for mammoth remains, but Dr Gubin voiced hope that the Russians will be the first to find some frozen animal tissue that could be used for regeneration.

"It's our land, we will try to get them first," he said.

19 Hour Drive That Should Of Taken Only 3!!

A pensioner has been arrested after 19 hours behind the wheel when she was spotted driving in the fast lane of the motorway travelling in the wrong direction.

Maureen Darvell, 83, had set off from her home in Ashford, Kent, at 9am on September 8 last year on her way to Bristol for a relative's wedding. The 175-mile trip should have taken her around three hours, but the pensioner got confused on the M25 and ended up heading towards Bournemouth on the south coast.Folkestone JPs heard last week how the confused pensioner realised her mistake as she approached Bournemouth, more than 110 miles from where she set off, and managed to turn around. But rather than heading north west towards Bristol, the pensioner ended up heading north east again - back to where she came from.

The OAP told the court she 'started getting tired' and decided to pull over in her 1997 Nissan Micra when she reached Popham Services on the A303 at Micheldever in Hampshire - around 60 miles north east of Bournemouth. She told the court 'she was tired and needed a cup of coffee' and had 'no idea' how long she had been driving - although she was still around 100 miles from Bristol. When she left the the service station - at around 3.30am the next day, September 9 - after driving for nearly 19 hours - she managed to drive back down the same carriageway she had arrived on - driving straight into oncoming traffic. She whizzed past cars in the fast lane before seeing a turn off for the M3 and turning onto the motorway - heading north on the southbound carriageway for around seven miles before being stopped.

Victoria Urmossy, defending, told the court: "Mrs Darvell left her home in Kent at 9am and took the wrong turning off of the M25 and became lost."When she got to Bournemouth she knew she had taken a wrong turn and tried to find her way back."She stopped at the service station and she is still not sure what time she left - but she was extremely tired."On the dual carriageway she realised that she was going the wrong way so she moved to the lane alongside the central reservation trying to find a gap."She could see traffic on the other carriageway going the way she wanted to go so she stayed in the outside lane looking for a break in the central reservation crash barrier so she could cross over."

Neil Sweeney, prosecuting, said police received 'lots of phone calls from drivers' about the slow moving Micra in the overtaking lane.He told the court: "Mrs Darvell continued along the A303 and then continued along the slip road onto the M3 travelling north on the southbound carriageway."She was stopped by police at junction 6 for Basingstoke at 3.50am around seven miles from where she had set out."When she was stopped, she confirmed she knew she had been travelling the wrong way."She was asked why she had not turned around and she replied: 'Because I did not want to go that way'."It was then she explained to police she was travelling to Bristol. It was just before four in the morning, she had set out from Ashford the previous day."

And They Say Women Are Bad Drivers.

We've all wondered why a clear stretch of road was coned off for no apparent reason. Well, this driver just found out exactly why.The man behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 tried to take a shortcut through some cones in San Francisco - only to see his car sink slowly into some wet cement."It was coned off," said Bobswire, a user of the Paceline Bike Forums. "He was just trying to sneak in from a side street. The concrete looked solid."

And it wasn't just the car that was stuck - so was the driver."He didn't want to open the door and have concrete get in; the whole undercarriage and brakes will need to be cleaned or replaced," Bobswire said. The unfortunate incident caught the eye of a number of spectators, who watched the six-man crew dig the Porsche out with a pair of wooden planks.

Lava Eruption Is A Trick Of The Eye.

It is a phenomenon that wouldn’t look out of place on top of Mount Etna. The fiery-looking trail below may appear to be a blast of molten lava, but it’s actually a cascade of water illuminated by the sun.

The wonder at Yosemite National Park, California, appears only at sunset during a select window of time in mid-February and is keenly awaited by a number of photographers and spectators.
Weather permitting, the effect is created by a precise alignment of the sun and earth which makes the Yosemite Park’s Horsetail Fall turn a bright, fiery orange. The vibrant colour is the result of the sun’s rays reflecting off granite behind the falling water and is dependent on a clear sunset.Horsetail Fall drains an area of the El Capitan rock formation, which stretches up to 3,593ft above the Yosemite valley.

Michael Frye, author of the book, The Photographer's Guide to Yosemite, said: "Horsetail is so uniquely situated that I don't know of any other waterfall on earth that gets that kind of light.
"How many are perched on a high open cliff? Most are in an alcove or canyon and won't get the sun setting behind it. Yosemite's special geography makes this fall distinctive,” he said.
"If you hit it at just the right time, it turns this amazing color of gold or red-orange”.Park officials believe it will last until February 24, with the best views east of the peak at the El Capitan picnic area. The incredible sight was first captured in colour by the natural world photographer Galen Rowell in 1973.

- Make a well in the centre of the flour and break the eggs into it.
- Begin whisking the eggs.
- Gradually add small quantities
of the milk and water mixture, still whisking.
- Whisk until all the liquid has
been added and the batter has the consistency of thin cream.
- Melt the butter in a pan.
- Spoon 2 tbsp of it into the batter and whisk it in. Use the rest of the butter to grease the frying pan before you make each pancake.
- Get the pan really hot, then turn the heat down to medium - be really careful doing this bit.
- Ladle 2 tbsp of the batter into the hot pan all in one go.
- Tip it around from side to side to get the base evenly coated with batter.
- After about half a minute, and when the bottom is golden in colour, flip the pancake over.
- The other side will only need a few seconds to cook.
- Slide the pancake out of the pan onto a plate.
- To serve, sprinkle each pancake with freshly squeezed lemon juice and caster sugar.
Enjoy!

Olympic Tickets!

Be careful not to be hooked into the Olympic Ticket sale scam. The Olympic Commitee promised that tickets would be affordable and acessible. 75%of tickets will be available to the public. The further 25% go to the media, sponsors, olympic party and the package ealers. This is where it goes wrong. The
package dealers are not allowed to  resell the tickets for more than the original price but combined with the hotel rooms that they are allowed to sell for any price you cann be charged thousands of pounds that they are not supposed to charge!

My gymnastic competition

This weekend me and my gymnastic club went over to Bristol to compete in a tough gymnastic competition. This competition was held by a gymnastic club named King Edmunds who also competed. It wasn't just an ordinary competition, it was actually a very competitive competition becuase the gymnastic club Heathrow were there (Spellbound are from Heathrow). Many of you will know Spellbound from Britans Got Talent, they were the champions! Aswell as Heathrow there were also people from Russia, all gymnasts who competed were very talented. In this competition I came first with my 2 amazing partners Katy and Gemma, we were very proud of our award because we got the higest mark out of all our grade. Aswell as this I would like to congratulate Jade Bower from Dinnington Comperhensive who got a bronze medal also I would like to make a shout out to Briony Canning from Dinnington  Comperhensive who also achived a bronze medal.

Ray Gillon

Ray Gillon speaks an incredible 18 languages. To be precise, he only speaks eight fluently. His grasp on the other 10 he cannot say fluently, but this is still a great achievement.
Say something to him in Portuguese, Thai, Turkish, Russian, Polish, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Bulgarian or Mandarin and he will banter back.
In the UK, where there has been a growing anxiety over the failure to learn additional languages, Gillon might seem to be a bit of an anomaly. More and more children have been giving up languages since the last government made learning foreign languages optional in England from the age of 14.

Orange Squashed.

In the northern Italian town of Ivrea locals celebrate the carnival season by pelting each other with oranges re-enacting a centuries old legend.

Hundreds of people poured into the northern Italian city of Ivrea on Sunday to re-enact the Battle of the Oranges. Residents dressed up in medieval costumes and bombarded each other with juicy oranges from Sicily.Legend has it that back in the 12th century the daughter of a miller rejected the advances of the town's evil lord. She cut off his head and set Ivrea free from his tyranny. The battle recalls the insurrection against the tyrant with participants split into noblemen and commoners with the oranges representing the oppressor's head.

In the 1930s local girls started to throw oranges along with confetti and flowers from their balconies onto the carnival parade carriages so that the boys would notice them. From the carriages the boys would throw items back. With time the gesture of homage became first a duel and then a real fight between the throwers on the balconies and those in the streets."Our carnival is a family tradition, it's the tradition of our parents, it's something that is close to our hearts. For Ivrea it's a historic moment," said town resident Angelo.500 tons of oranges are shipped from Sicily to the Piedmont region every year in order to provide weapons to the jubilant revellers.
