School children die on a coach

On Tuesday 13th March 2012, a coach was taking home two school classes, until the coach crashed into a tunnel wall. The coach was travelling back to Belgium from a skiing holiday in the Swiss Alps. On the coach was at least 28 people, 22 of them being the school children. Belgium's prime minister says "It was a tragic day for all of Belgium". The two drivers, who were also killed in the dreadful accident, had rested before the journey and the road wasn't busy, plus the driving conditions were just like normal. Severe crashes, don't happen regulary, that's why the coach crash has come as such a shock to everyone. An investigation has started to see why the drivers did crash the coach...

You Tube... A bad influence?

People say that You Tube is an incredibly bad influence on young children and is unsafe to search for regular things such as Dog because there are many people out there who have put very disturbing videos on You Tube, most schools have You Tube blocked for all students and at some, for the teachers as well. Many parents are wary about what their kids are watching on You Tube, also You Tube has gone through a recent update which many viewers are not pleased with. however lots of viewers are incredibly happy with the update which shows what you have watched recently and it shows people's that are popular. In conclusion if you use it right You Tube is very useful as it can tell you how to use certainthings if they did not come with instructions also there are things you can look at for entertainment when you need it. However this cannot compensate for the many rude or innapropriate videos on You Tube, especially for small children

Stickey Tape Bandit

A would-be thief from Orkney became unstuck after being fought off by a shop employee with a sticky tape dispenser.

Christopher Baird, 18, of Finstown, who has admitted assault and attempted robbery, tried to steal from the till at knife point from Baikie's Stores on February 18. CCTV shows how Euan Brown, the shop's till worker, hit him on the head with a sticky tape dispenser. Startled, Baird ran from the shop. Baird's sentence was deferred at Kirkwall Sheriff Court for background reports and he was remanded in custody.

Goalball

All of the GB teams are through to the Paralympics! Goalball was the last of the events to make it through, the estatic team of partially sighted athletes aim to bring the gold home later this year.
Goalball is a sport for those with impared vision but they all must wear blindfolds, the objective is to roll the ball in to the opponents' net and the other team must block it with their body. The ball has bells in it to help players locate it. Due to the nature of this game the hall must be completely silent! The players may not be able to see clearly, but they can clearly see a bright future!

New Blackberry

Blackberry's latest phone has been designed by a car company! Porsche.

It's made from brushed stainless steel and leather - but even that's not luxurious enough for some shoppers. As apple continue to add extras to there i phones and i pads.

But the price for this new phone will have to be an big on for this phone, and it is it costs an eye watering £1,265.

So at this price would you make this new high tec phone on the top of your wish list, or would you keep the i phone as your top phone that you want?

BBC News School Report

The Student Journalists at Dinnington Comprehensive School have been involved in the BBC School Report. Many other schools took part from different countries. Each school had to put news stories of their choice and turn them into a news report. Just like the BBC News, where the presenters read out whats happening around the world. But it isn't as simple as you think...

First, we had to research the latest news and pick out what we thought were the most interesting ones. We did choose quite a lot at first; but then we cut it down to the most important news stories. Then, of course, there was the script writing to do. We all took part and decided on everything as a team. Last but not least, there was the filming. There were a couple of laughs and giggles when the cameras were rolling, but it went well in the end. (With some help from teachers, we would have managed without them of course)  Here is the link to our News Report:

Overall, everyone enjoyed this exciting day and I'm sure we are all looking forward to next year.

New Human Species?

Recently, scientists in China have made a fantastic new discovery. They unearthed the very fragile remains of what seem to be a new species of humans. The bones belonged to at least five different individuals; dating to 11,500 and 14,500 years ago! These extremely old remains came from Southern China, in Maludong, in an area called the Red Deer Cave. This is exactly what scientists have called these apparently new species of man, the Red Deer Cave People.

However, much more analysis needs to be done in order to confirm that what the scientists have discovered is a new species of man. So far, the identifying is going well. There has been another discovery of the same looking skeleton; in an area close by. This points to the fact that they came from the same age and population.

The skeletons look far from our modern ones. They have rounded brain cases, thick skull bones, short and flat faces and broad noses.

Evidence suggests that this species lived alongside ours until they died out. They lived in the Stone Age. These humans where already harvesting from fields and making storage for their food.

This is a very important discovery; helping us make a bigger picture of what life was like in the olden days.

A potty invension

A man in China has came up with a truly weired invension for schoolchildren...

A toilet desk. The students sit on the toilet seat and use the lid of it to draw and do all of there work. The name of this batty inventer is called Gao Jianguo and he has already donated hundreds of these desks to local schools in the area that he lives in.

I don't know about you but i don't like the idea of having a toilet as an desk in school! Do you/
