Mi-28, a helicopter you might want to save your spending money for

The Mi-28, made by a Russian company called Mil, had its first flight on 10 November 1982 and is still in production to this day, its first model was built on 15th October 1982. It costs 12 million euros or £9.73710. It is not avaliable for private purchase. The primary users of this helicopter are: the Russian Air Force, Venezuelan Army and the Kenya Army. It is an attack helicopter used by all of these armies, so far. The Mi-28 is a Russian all weather , day-night, military tandem, two-seat anti armour attack helicopter, a dedicated helicopter, with no intended secondary transport capability. It carries a single gun in an undernose barnette.

UK experiences weird weather

For some strange reason the floods have turned into foam! Look...

First there is a hosepipe ban because of a drought, next minute everyone gets their sandbags ready because of floods are on the way but now it's turned into foam. The foam looks like snow and has covered a beach in Devon.

Many locals were baffled when they saw strange foam, it arrived on the south coast of England at the weekend. At first many people thought this werid weather was snow. But, this barmy spring weather was more like a bubble bath on the beach. Lots of childeren played in the creamy foam as it rose up to waist height at Seaton Bay.

What caused the foam?
It is thought that, bad weather including heavy rain, strong winds and choppy waters caused the foam to appear.

People from other weried news stories have been handed sandbags to protect their homes against flooding after heavy rain. At the same time, they have being warned no to use hosepipes because of drought fears!

Millions of people are still banned from using hosepipes to water their gardens. So I cannot understand why there are more than 40 flood alerts that have been put in place across Britain.

Trevor Bishop from the Environment Agency quoted: “It’s going to take more than a week or two of rain to undo the effects of nearly two years of below average rainfall,” he says. “The recent rain is good for farmers and gardeners. But, with dry soils, most of the rain will be soaked up, or, worse still, run off quickly if the surface is hard, causing flash floods. But it won’t reach down far enough to top up groundwater, which is what we really need.”

Don’t put away those gloves just yet, as  forecasters are now saying we are facing the coldest May in 100 years.

Team GB wrestler fails drug test

Myroslav Dykun, team GB wrestler who was expected to do well in the Olympic Games this summer has failed a drugs test.
The international level wrestler won gold in the Commonwealth Games for England earlier this year. He is suspended until he has a second drugs test to determine wether he will be disqualified or not. If he is it will be a big blow for wrestling.
Dykun won gold in the Commonwealth games for EnglandThere are two types of wrestling in the Olympic games - Freestyle and Greco-Roman (the type Dykun competes in). So far Britain hasn't done very well in either. The last time they won a medal was way back in 1984, when they took home a bronze.
Dykun isn't origionally British though, he was born in Ukraine but was asked to move over and start a wrestling academy. He has now lived here long enough to be eligible to compete for Great Britain!

Juice to Jupiter

A billion Euro space mission to Jupiter and it's moons has been organized by the European Space Agency (ESA). The launch is due to take place in 2022.
The satellite, named Juice, will take approximately 5 years to reach the biggest planet in our Solar System, and it will be piloted for a further 10 years before it ends its life. Juice's mission is to take pictures and collect data, so that we can find out anything that we don't yet know. Juice will fly in orbit around Ganymede, one of Jupiter's moons. But before it can do that, the satellite will hopefully be able to take Jupiter's gravitational pull into advantage. It will slowly fly by Europa and Callisto.

The information collected will help scientists determine wether micro organisms can and are surviving on any of the moons surrounding Jupiter. Furthermore, we have proof that they have huge, thick ice shelves on both of their poles. Ice is basically frozen water, so where there is water; life must exist.

If successful, this journey to the far end of our Solar System may be remembered as the greatest find of all kind. Not only will we be able to know if there is other life out there, but we will also have another place where humans could live in the far future. Jupiter is in the cold zone of our Solar System, but remember how humans were once monkeys? We evolved over time and adapted to live all around the world. Maybe the same thing could happen in this case? We will just have to find out, there is quite a few years left until the big launch. Stay tuned and hope it will all go to plan. You never know, our ancestors could once end up living on a different planet, all thanks to us...

Men in black is BACK

Men in Black is BACK!!

Watch this amazing film now. It's one of the must see films of the year.

The Avengers review

Plot - Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. brings together a team of super humans to form The Avengers to help save the Earth from Loki and his army. (www.imdb.com)

Review - The Avengers is a great summer blockbuster, funny, great explosions and a simple plot. Before watching this film I suggest watching Thor as it follows on from it. I loved all the characters and thought they were will developed, they all played important roles in the film. The soundtrack was awesome, Iron Man played AC/DC! The only bad thing was the CGI/green screen wasn't the best, at some points you could tell it was fake.

I give this film a 7 out of 10 and I recommend watching it at the cinema.

Boy falls off the edge of a building but is saved by his ears

In 2010 in China a six-year-old boy slipped between the security bars on his apartment windows but was saved from falling eight storeys to ground below, as his head couldn’t fit through the window bars, and he was left dangling from his ears. I think this is crazy, do you?
Boy falls off the edge of a building but is saved by his ears

The boy was called Ming Ming and he was being looked after by his grandad, at the time of the accident, but the Ming Ming's grandad had taken a nap, and he was left unattended.

Many people think that the boy was looking for the man through his appartment window, but he slipped and almost fell straight through the window’s security bars. But his head was too big for the narrow bars and this almost certainly saved his life because it stopped Ming Ming from falling eight storeys, onto the road.

Ming Ming's grandad found him in time and called the fire brigade, who came and cut his head out of the bars with hydraulic tools. He was very lucky, a spokesperson for the fire brigade said, “He could have fallen to the ground – or have been suffocated – at any minute.”

He is very lucky to still be alive!

Ex-Drug Cheats CAN go to Olympics

Britain's former drug cheats will now be allowed to compete in the Olympic Games.

British Olympic bosses lost the court case that resulted in them no longer being able to give a lifeime ban to those who used drugs to help them perform better. An international sport court has ruled that it's against the World Anti-Doping Agency's global code. It means that athletes like Dwain Chambers can run in the Olympic Games in 2012. He tested positive for steroids in 2003 and served a 2 year athletics ban. He will still have to join the others fighting for a place to qualify though!

Cyclist David Millar
Cyclist David Millar is another athlete who was given a lifetime Olympic ban.

Robbers Disguise Is Pants.

A would-be burglar was arrested after being caught on CCTV wearing a pair of boxer shorts over his face during an attempted robbery, it emerged today.

Tazviona Maluge Bhebe, 40, stormed into an off licence in Sutton, South London, armed with a kitchen knife.
He was wearing a pair of light blue boxer shorts over his face, peering through one of the leg holes as he threatened 34-year-old shop worker Harry Mahalingham.A court heard that Bhebe, who lived near The Broadway off licence, demanded cash from Mr Mahalingham and tried to open the till to steal cash after reaching behind the counter. He told Mr Mahalingham: "Give me your money or I will use the knife", it was claimed. But the burglary was foiled when Mr Mahalingham jumped over the counter and beat Bhebe over the head with A-frame display sign, causing the boxer shorts to slip down and expose his face on CCTV.
Bhebe chased the shop worker around the store brandishing the knife but eventually ran off, throwing away the knife and ripping the failed disguise from his face.Police arrived at the scene within minutes and arrested Bhebe after watching the CCTV footage and extracting DNA evidence from the knife and underwear.
Detective Constable Andy Thornton, who revealed a string of CCTV images of the bungled January 21 raid, said: "The CCTV shows his boxer shorts shifting to reveal his face during the robbery."

Bhebe pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of a knife and was jailed for three years two weeks ago at Croydon Crown Court.A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "The man walked up to the counter and peered out through a leg hole in his plain light blue shorts and demanded: 'Give me your money or I will use the knife.'"The CCTV shows his boxer shorts shifting to reveal his face during the robbery""As Bhebe walked around the counter to take £100 from the till, the sales assistant quickly jumped over the counter and went outside the shop to pick up a large, A-frame display sign."The assistant then returned to the front of the counter where he swung the green sign at Bhebe who was still behind the counter. Bhebe was hit with the sign."Bhebe chased the sales assistant outside the shop to the nearby roundabout before running off discarding the kitchen knife and removing and discarding his boxer shorts as he went in full view of a number of pedestrians.

Woman dislocates her neck by sneezing

Sneezing is caused by irritation to the mucous membranes of the nose or throat. It can be very bothersome, but is generally not a sign of a serious problem. But in this case it is a problem...
As a women dislocated her neck by sneezing.

While sitting up in bed two weeks ago, Monique Jeffery, 28, sneezed twice and dislocated two vertebrae in her neck, leaving her unable to move. Luckily, she already had her phone in her hand and was able to call for help.
Monique said: “I just knew something was wrong. I felt something move and I was in excruciating pain.”
First tests suggested Monique had only given herself a stiff neck because of muscle spasms, but later symptoms meant a dash to hospital, where the emergency trauma unit discovered the real problem!
What do you think? Have you ever injured yourself by sneezing or coughing?

'The Dark Knight Rises' Trailer 3

Boy gets stuck in washing machine

Im sure you all know what a washing machine does. But for someone to get stuck in something spinning faster than 1000rpm is very crazy but true. A washing machine is designed to wash laundry, such as clothing, towels, and sheets, not childeren. The term is mostly applied only to machines that use water as the primary cleaning solution, as opposed to dry cleaning.

A Swedish boy got stuck while investigating his parents’ washing machine.
The seven-year-old had to be freed by firemen.
They had to take the whole machine apart to rescue him.

Heavy schoolbags are causing back problems

Half of all children complain about back pain by the time they’re 14 and doctors have reported a rise in spinal abnormalities. For this reason experts have warned that the weight of heavy schoolbags is causing irreversible damage to children's backs. It is thought that children carry much more weight in their bags than they ever used to. Heavy books, sports kits, packed lunches and even laptops are all contributing to the problem.

Sean McDougall of the charity BackCare, said: “Many children are carrying their bags on one shoulder or are increasingly carrying them on the crook of their elbow, so are placing a great strain on the spine.”
The charity BackCare claims many youngsters are carrying as much as 20 per cent of their weight to and from school each day!

Children are being urged to carry only what they really need for each day and to ensure that they wear their backpacks on both shoulders.
Do you have a very heavy schoolbag? Should schools have more lockers for heavy books and laptops?

leonardo da vinci

Earliest known copy of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa found at Spain’s Prado Museum
MADRID (AP).- A “Mona Lisa” copy owned by Spain’s Prado Museum was almost certainly painted by one of Leonardo da Vinci’s apprentices alongside the master himself as he did the original, museum officials said Wednesday.
The stunning find of what the Prado now says is probably the earliest known copy of La Gioconda will give art lovers and experts an idea of what the Mona Lisa looked like back in the 16th century, said Gabriele Finaldi, the museum’s deputy director collections.
“It is as if we were in the same studio, standing at the next easel,” he told reporters.
The copy has been part of the Prado collection for years and displayed occasionally but no one paid much attention to it because around the woman in the Mona Lisa was a stark black background, not the pretty landscape seen in the original.
A copy of Leonardo da Vincis Mona Lisa 580x388 Earliest known copy of Leonardo da Vincis Mona Lisa found at Spains Prado Museum
A copy of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa that was painted at the same time as the original in the same studio is displayed at the Prado Museum in Madrid Wednesday Feb. 1, 2012. Spain’s Prado Museum says the copy it has of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa was painted at the same time as the original perhaps making it the earliest replica of the masterpiece. A museum spokeswoman said the work was painted side by side with the 16th century original that hangs in the Louvre in Paris and was done by one of Leonard’s key students. AP Photo/Paul White.
Two years ago, to get the copy ready for a da Vinci exhibit later this year in Paris, where the original hangs in the Louvre, tests were done and this gave restorers a hint that something lie under the black coat, which was added in the 18th century for reasons not fully understood.
When the black covering was removed, a Tuscan landscape very similar to the one in the original emerged.
And X-ray tests which allow experts to peek under a painting’s surface to see how it developed as it was composed showed that changes made in the copy were similar to changes made to the original as it evolved.
Varnish has also been removed from the Mona Lisa’s face, making it look brighter and younger than the face coated with cracked, darkish varnish at the Paris museum.
“You can imagine that this is what the Mona Lisa looked like back in the 16th century,” Finaldi said.
Miguel Falomir, the Prado’s director for Italian painting, said the copy gives art lovers and experts a chance “to admire the Mona Lisa with totally different eyes.”
He and Finaldi said the museum’s best guess is that the copy was done by a da Vinci apprentice named Francesco Melzi, because of the style observed in it.
Besides the black background, one other difference from the original is the woman in the copy has eyebrows and the Mona Lisa in the real masterpiece does not.
There are dozens of the surviving replicas of the masterpiece from the 16th and 17th centuries.
The Louvre supports the Prado’s new evaluation of the painting, Finaldi said.
The Prado plans to put it on display later this month before it travels to France for the da Vinci show.
