Mum makes son kill hamster!

Lynn-Geter - Hamster Hit-MomA 38 year old mother named Lynn Geter has made her own son smack his pet hamster with a hammer!

She had her own unique way to dish-out discipline. for example; when her dog pee's on the carpet she rubs his face in it, when her 80 year old father forgets her name she washes his mouth out with soap and water, and when her 12 year old son gets bad grades at school she made him kill his pet hamster!

That’s right, Geter actually thought that the best way to punish her son was to put a hammer in his hands and force him to smash his beloved pet ‘Squeaky’ in the head with a hammer!

The next day at school her son told his teacher what had happened the previous night and she decided it was appropriate to call the local police. His mum is now in jail for for animal cruelty, child cruelty and battery. What do you think her punishment should be? Comment below and tell me your thoughts!

Is It The End For Bucket Sized Drinks?

Is It The End For Bucket Sized Drinks?

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has decided banning sales of large soft drinks. Does this mean the end of the popular, money-making bucket-sized cups of soda?

The cold, sugary goodness of a big cup of Coca-Cola delights Chris Alexander, he quips it helps sooth his post-traumatic stress disorder.

"If I get agitated, I'll have an incredible urge to get a Coke," says Alexander, a 37-year-old US Army veteran who served several tours in Iraq.

"They're quite popular," says Margaret Chabris, a spokeswoman for 7-Eleven, which has 7,800 convenience stores in the United States.
"People are quite thirsty and want a large-sized soda."

Rowboat-sized soft-drinks have been marketed to Americans for decades. We don't think that the Americans will be very impressed the XXL drinks will be banned.

How to catch an escaped hamster!

Hamsters are really good escape artists they can get through the tinyest of gaps!

Majority of the time they escape because of human error. For example by not locking the door properly or the hamster has been working on a secret get away somewhere in the cage for a while and you havent noticed. Hamsters can be hidden for day or even weeks!!!

First you need to find out what room he/she is in. You could do this by putting his favourite food in a corner, do not put it in the middle of the room as hamsters, just like mice, fear open spaces! When  it has gone or a bit has gone then he is most likely to be in that room. Then seal off all the exsits so he can't escape!

One method is to put down a sheet of tinfoil and put his/hers favourite food in the middle and shut all doors, windows and turn all the lights off and sit quietly so when he comes to get the food you will hear him crawl across the tinfoil and then you can catch him!

Another method is for you to put the cage against the skirting board and hopefully he will crawl in and make himself a comfy bed for the night!

hamster traps
A live bucket/box trap
One other is the bucket trap! You will need a 10" or deeper box/bucket and make a ramp up into it. Make sure at the end of the ramp and IN the bucket/box there is some bedding/shavings so when he jumps in it is soft for him you also need to put in some food for him such as apples or tomatos and some water. The box/bucket needs to be deep enough for him to be able to get in but unable to get out!

Another way is to leave some of his favourite treats in the middle of a circle of flour because when he comes he you will be able to see his paw prints in the flour!

However the hamster may be stuck under floor boards or in a wall and if so you may never see him/her  again.  BUT NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!!!

Too Many Children Can’t Swim

Campaigners say that too many children are not being taught how to swim properly.

Swimming is movement through water using one's limbs, and usually without artificial apparatus. Swimming is an activity that can be both useful and recreational. Its primary uses are bathing, cooling, fishing, recreation, exercise, and sport.
Swimming is a VERY important thing to learn. As if one day you go down to the park with friends or on your own, and something tragic happens. Let’s say, you’re walking along the river bank, and you suddenly fall down a ditch and land into the water. If you can’t swim…Well, let’s just say there will be BIG TROUBLE! The possibility of drowning without anybody knowing! So learning how to swim is a big thing! You should start swimming lessons when you’re young. I learnt how to swim when I was 5 years old. So it’s best and vital to learn how to swim at a young age, or serious things could happen if you don’t know how to swim.

A report by the Amateur Swimming Association shows that one in three children in year seven cannot swim a length of a pool (25m). David Sparkes from the ASA says: “Swimming is the only subject on the national curriculum that can save your life.” Which makes sense, as things like drowning can easily happen. The Government says that all students should be able to swim 25m without help by the time they leave primary school. AT LEAST!
People who go swimming always tend to complain about little thingS. So here are some things you can use to stop those little things from happening so you can enjoy swimming without them bothering you:

Ear plugs can be used and can prevent water from getting in the ears.

Nose clips can be used and can prevent water from getting in the nose.Goggles can be used and protect the eyes from chlorinated water, and can improve underwater visibility.
Tinted goggles protect the eyes from sunlight that reflects from the bottom of the pool.
Swim caps can be used and keep the body streamlined and protect the hair from chlorinated water. Swim caps can also keep the hair dry.
Swimming floats can be used and swimming boards are used for training or exercise purposes.
Kickboards can be used to keep the upper body afloat while exercising the lower body. A pull buoy is used to keep the lower body afloat while exercising the upper body.
Swim fins can be used and are used to elongate the kick and improve technique and speed.
But what do you say about this? At what age did you learn how to swim? Post your comments below…
