EURO 2012 Group B

Here are the points for Group B teams:

Team Points
Denmark 3
Germany 3
Portugal 0
Holland 0

Denmark and Germany came out on top today, meanwhile Portugal and Holland have come out at the bottom of the table. There are still quite a few games to go, who knows maybe Portugal can come out on top this time...

Join me again tomorrow for highlights in the matches Spain v Italy and Ireland v Croatia.

Germany v Portugal

Two high quality teams battled it out in this extremely nail biting match. Some of the very best players were out on the pitch today including Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani from Portugal and Mario Gomez and Schweinsteiger from Germany.

The first half was a very tough time to make out who would be the first goal scorer. The pressure was soon felt in the second half and both teams picked their game up a bit. Portugal were looking very strong with their unbreakable defence line but Germany finally managed to break through with a deflected header by Mario Gomez, ending in a goal in the 71st minute. It was then that C.Ronaldo started to have a few goes at the goal himself, which were very close to making the ball end up in the net.

Before you knew it Portugal had their last chance at scoring when a corner opportunity came along. Nani took it, Bruno Alves headed it and.... it went over the bar. The referee blew his whistle and it was over for Portugal; but it had just begun for Germany...

Netherlands v Denmark

The first group B match has come and gone. It was a very close game with the favoured team being Holland. However, Denmark are a quite impressive team, being the replacement for Yugoslavia in the 1992 European Championships. They won the cup with a staggering 2-0 victory over Germany!

Anyway, back to the game, no one suspected that Denmark would win this game; let alone score. But, in the 24th minute Krohn-Dehli scored a smashing goal and Denmark was in the lead once more. Holland were devastated, but they wouldn't give up that easily. During the remainder of the match they had more than 20 tries at scoring; rarely hitting the target.

Sadly, after 3 minutes of stoppage time the game was over, giving the victory to the underdogs, Denmark. The Dutch players were heart broken and they couldn't do anything about it. Join me later with the ups and downs of the Germany v Portugal match. Who will win? You will find out shortly...

America's Got Talent Weird Audition...

Over the years America's Got Talent has had some weird and wonderful auditions hoping that they will get through to the next round so they can compete for 1 million dollars! Well this time round, I think this act took it just a little bit too far over the weird side. Take a look at this...
It was just a normal day for America's Got Talent, the judges had seen some brilliant acts and some stupid acts. But when this act walked through the curtains of the stage, well... Put it this way, Piers wasn't very amused. 1 member from the act called "Those Funny Little People" walked upon the stage. And then, well... I won't speak too much, why don't you take a look at what happened from then...

Well, this act got through the auditions and went on to compete in Las Vegas. Personally I don't think this act should of got through to the next round, why should a group of people dressed up in ridicilous costumes, singing and dancing go through to win 1 MILLION DOLLARS! I don't think that's right at all! But what do you think?

Do you think this act should of got through and be in with the win to win 1 million dollars? Post your comments below...

Russia v Czech Republic

This was the second match of the EURO 2012 tournament, which was held in Wrocław, Poland.
The referee for this game was the same one that denied a goal in the last tournament 2 years ago. Remember when Lampard clearly scored a goal against Germany, unfortunately it wasn't recognised and England lost in case you can't remember. Let's hope that this won't happen this year.

The first goal was scored by Russia's Dzagoev in the 15th minute. I think that by now everyone could see which team was the strongest. Luck was most certainly on Russia's side. Amazingly they scored a second goal in the 24th minute by Shirokov.

To cut a long story short, the Czechs very own Pilar scored their first goal in the second half; unfortunately followed by another two goals by the Russians. Scored by Dzagoev, again, and by Pavlyuchenko; all in just two minutes. WOW. If England are going to play with the Russians in the quarter finals (HOPEFULLY, fingers crossed) then they have to train hard.

The next match coverage will be with me tomorrow at 5 o'clock, Netherlands v Denmark, and at quarter past 8, Germany v Portugal. Who knows what will happen?...

EURO 2012 is Underway

With Poland and Ukraine being co-hosts, this tournament will certainly be the most agonising 3 weeks of our lives.

The opening ceremony was held in Warsaw along side the very first match, in which Poland and Greece battled it out. The first goal was scored by Lewandowski, Poland, in the 16th minute of the game. By that time the atmosphere in the stadium was electric. Then the inevitable happened. The Greek, Papastathopoulos, received a yellow card after trying to head the ball with Lewandowski, hitting him on the head with his chin.

In the second half Greece had it all planned out, scoring a tremendous goal in the 50th minute; equalising the game. The very happy goal scorer was Salpingidis, a substitute coming on at half time. Greece was back in the game. But not for long. Papastathopoulos was 'awarded' another yellow card and was sent off. The game couldn't get any worse for the Greeks. It would soon get better though...

Just as they (Greece) were heading towards the goal, Poland's goalkeeper fouled the Greek player, giving himself a red card and letting Greece get another chance at scoring with a penalty kick. The substitute goalkeeper, Tytoń, saved the shot, ending the game 1-1.

What an eventful opening match that was. We will see a lot of that this summer. I will keep you updated with the latest scores and goals as the EURO 2012 continues. The next match being Russia v Czech Republic, this will be an interesting one...

Jubilee

The queens diamond Jubilee is one never to forget as she waved to everyone on the river Thames and many had street parties to celebrate the queen being on the throne for 60 years. Many gathered around Buckingham palace for a concert which was amazing when on the Thames all of her family was there and it looked as though everyone had a smashing day.

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax Film Review

Plot - A 12-year-old boy searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world. (IMDB.com)

I went to see this film with high expectations and sadly the film did not live up to them. This film is very childish, so it's not aimed for teenagers or even adults. I think only kids will like it. It wasn't like Toy Story when everyone can enjoy it; unlike Toy Story it had a very predictable plot, there was no tension at all, and it was very dull. However, the cinematic photography was good, looking at the film is entertaining. This film is kind of a musical, which I didn't know until they all burst out into song. The songs where okay; however I think the film would have been better without them. The characters in this film are very likeable, you do feel for them but because there was no tension so you couldn't feel scared or sorry for them.

I would give this film 6.4 out of 10, If your 6 and under you will probably love it but any older and you might find it boring. For me I will not be buying the DVD but I would recommend it to younger kids.

Jubille Pageant Breaks World Record!

A million people turned out in the rain to watch The Diamond Jubilee Pageant on the River Thames on Sunday.

The once-in-a-lifetime, record-breaking event took place on Sunday afternoon.
A thousand boats sailed, rowed, or motored down the river, breaking the record for the largest parade of boats.

Nothing like this has happened for around 300 years, and not even the typical British weather could dampen anyone's spirits!

Facebook 'May soon allow' under-13's to join the site.

Facebook may soon allow children younger than 13 to access the site if supervised by their parents, according to a US newspaper.

The giant company is developing technology to link children's and parents' accounts together, says the Wall Street Journal.

It also claims parents could be allowed to control which friends can be added by their children.
At the moment, under-13s are banned from joining Facebook.

The main reasons are cyberbullying, content that isn't appropriate for children, and risks of contacting strangers on the internet.

Fred the Ferret to Predict the Euro 2012

A ferret called Fred has set out to predict the results of the Euro 2012.

Before each match Fred will choose from plates of food that have the countries flag's on them. Which ever plate he eats the food from the countries flag that's is one it is Fred's prediction.

"The ferret will have precisely 15 minutes in the Fan Zone and in this 15 minutes it will have to predict the winning team," said Segiy Kharkov, project manager of Kharkiv Fan Zone who picked Fred.

Paul the German octopus correctly guessed the outcome of every game Germany played in in the 2010 World Cup. He also predicted Spain would beat Holland in the final. Since then it's become a trend to have 'pyschic' animals predict sports.

Do you think Fred the ferret will predict the right results?

Man Swallows a £12,000 Diamond!

Yes, if you read the title of this post  it won't change!

A Canadian man has swallowed a Diamond on purpose, the Diamond was worth £12,000!

The man was kept in jail until he pooped the Diamond back out. Yuck!!!!

A Witnesses said he tried to swap the diamond for a glass copy, but was seen by security.

I would hate to be the officer trying to retrieve the diamond! What a mess.

The Tuatara Reptile With Saw Like Teeth!!!!

Don't get too close to this reptile- it chews it's prey like no other land animal, according to scientists!
They say the tuatara from New Zealand can slice up its food using a ''steak-knife sawing motion'' when it munches. This ability could be why it's been able to adapt and survive more than 200 million years. This means it can eat a wide range of prey, such as beetles, spiders, crickets and small lizards. The team studied tuatara at Chester Zoo. They found that the tuatara's lower teeth slide forward against its upper teeth to slice food apart '' like a draw-cut saw''. It's different to lizards and snakes who have ''more of a simple opening and closing'' motion. This discovery can help explain some of the reptile's rather gruesome habits. Dr Marc Jones from University Collage London said that, '' People have described finding seabirds with their heads sawn off.''

Grandad Kills Giant Rat!

A man from County Durham has killed a rat on his land that was bigger than a cat.

The giant rat measured 1.2m from nose to tail and was so heavy that it broke the piece of wood used to pick it up.

Brian Watson, 67, killed it after his son-in-law found it while mowing the grass. He said: “I’ve never seen a rat as big in my life before.”

Rats are common pests and usually grow to around 40-45cm long.

Here is a news report about the giant rat with an interview.

Yes very weird!!!

Could The Biggest Shark Ever Be Caught In Britan!!!!

Two fishermen got more than they bargained for when they hooked this massive shark!
They are claiming that it's the biggest shark ever caught in British waters. It's called a Porbeagle, and was three metres long and it probably weighed more than 200 kilograms. The fearsome fish dragged the boat for more than a mile in the hour-and -a half long struggle of north Cornwall. The shark was then tagged and released alive.

Could this be the biggest shark ever caught in British waters?

Whale Almost Gets Hit By Yacht!!!

The crew of a racing yacht had a real narrow escape when they almost hit a whale at full speed!
They had to swerve at the last second to avoid crashing into the mammal. The New Zealand team was competing in the Volvo Ocean race when all this happened. Fortunately for the crew (and the whale), the driver spotted the animal and turned the steering wheel hard to the right, missing it by a whisker!
This race takes competitors across the Atlantic ocean from America to Portugal.

Meet Fred The Psychic Ferret!!

Fred is the predicting ferret, whos been introduced by organisers of Euro 2012 in Portland and the Ukraine. Fred will try to guess who's going to win matches by choosing food from plates carring the flags of the competing teams. Ever since Paul the octupus correctly guessed every German result in the 2010 world cup and the final, every sports torniment seems to have a psychic animal! We've had a psychic elephant, rhino, crocodile and a pig, but none of them has been as soccessful as Paul. Now we'll have to see how good Freds guessing skills are to he could be as good as Paul.

How long Should You Be Able To Sit In front Of A Screen For?

Children will have spent a year sitting in front of screens by the time they are seven years old.

Technology has really progressed over the years. You wouldn't believe that back in those days when your parents were kids, they didn't have TV's, computers, nintendo's, wii's, playstation's, x-box's or anything! And look at us now, look how much technology we own and have made now! It's amazing how these kind of things can be created and made so fast! I mean look at the iPhone, there has been many creations of that very clever
phone. Infact iPhone 5 is ment to be coming out in October 2012 this year! They just keep coming and coming!
However because we now have all this new technology like TV's and computers/laptops, children are absoloutley adicted to the things! Some ten and 11-year-olds have up to five screens at home with children sitting for an average of 6.1 hours A DAY in front of them! How ridicilous is that!? Researcher Aric Sigman is now calling on parents to bring in time limits for their children to be in front of screens with under-threes banned altogether from all small screens. He thinks both children and adults are becoming addicted to screen technology and should use it less. But somehow I think this won't change a thing how kids
look at technology...

But what do you think? Do you think there should there be limits for how long a kid can sit in front of a screen? Let us know what you think in a comment below…

Study Shows That Meerkats Are At Risk!!

Loads of us saw the Meerkats on Planet Earth Live, but some of them say that some of them are in danger. They're not always under threat from other animals - it's members of there own family they actually need to look out for! European experts watching 2,000 meerkats in South Africa. Called 'inbreeding', this can stop baby pups from being healthy, and some may not even survive. The study lasted 20 years ,keeping track of births, deaths, and the movments of Meerkats between groups.New born pups were weighed and measured, and details were noted of which of the family groups they were from. The pups which had been born from inbreeding turned out to be smaller, lighter in weight, and less likely to stay alive in the wild.
