A Man Swallowed A Camera For A TV Show.

Have you ever wondered what happens to your dinner once you've swallowed it?

Well, so did Michael Mosley. The presenter swallowed the camera as part of a BBC TV show.

It showed the route food takes from being swallowed, all the way down to the stomach.

You could even see small bits of food that he had for his breakfast!

"Guts: The Strange and Mysterious World of the Human Stomach" is on BBC Four at 9pm on Thursday 12 July and online afterwards on the BBC's iPlayer.

Schools Break Up Early For The Olympics.

Schools in east London are breaking up for the summer two weeks earlier than usual because of the Olympics.

It's because the local council claims the Games will cause disruption.

The schools in the borough of Newham are closing on Friday.

There was a mixed reaction to the move, with some pupils telling the BBC that they were delighted.

But others pointed out they cover a lot of ground in a fortnight and raised concerns over their education.

Teaching unions claim it will disrupt education and put extra pressure on staff.

Newham Council says the Games could have a negative impact on schools and argues it makes sense for them to close.

The Games begin on 27 July.

Y7's Specialist Schools Day

On Friday the 13th of July, a group called Steer safe came in and talk about mostly road accidents, prison and also what it's like to have someone you know that is close to you die in a car accident to the year 7's.

To start off the day, all of the Y7's went into the New/Girls Gym to meet all the staff and volunteers that works for Steer Safe and the different types of people that had come to speak to us. There was a whole range of them. There were: Police and ex Police staff, CSI, a paramedic, ex prisoners and also a person that someone very close to her had died in a car crash.

The Live Demonstration

There had been a crash in our schools coach park between a motor cycle and a car, the fire brigade was on the scene and showed all the Y7's what they did and why they did it, for example, when they are cutting the windscreen they hose it down with water, this prevents the glass from shattering onto the victim.

CPR

As part of the day a paramedic came in to do CPR training so we know what to do if someone is on the floor and not breathing, some bits where disgusting because the paramedic said, "If the food pipe has food in it and they are going to be sick, this means you have to choose a finger and get clearing it all out from their mouths."

Drugs

All the Y7's also got to meet an ex drug dealer, he explained that he used to look up to the other 'bad boys' as they had lots of money and they were on the guest lists for night clubs all over the city. But that's when he told us it went down hill, as he began to take drugs and sell them, and one day he got caught by the police and taken to Crown Court, the reason for this is because they where class a drugs, after Court he got sent to prison. He said it wasn't very nice and the rooms were horrible.

My Daughter

During the day we went and listened to a woman's story that had two lovely daughters that all went away in a flash. We listened to the story and everyone was overwhelmed to silence as the woman explained that she lost her eldest daughter in a crash, she was in the taxi and the other car that had no tax and the driver was a disqualified driver crashed into them!

Forensic evidence

In this workshop we learnt how to gather finger prints from a crime scene and also why they wear the big white clothes over them, the answer, to keep their thumb prints, hair and sweat going into their search results other which they have spent hours searching and will come back with the wrong result.

Evidence gathering

In this workshop we learnt how to interrogate a witness and a suspect, to do this we had to use the five W's and also how, after this we had a go on the face editing system where we tried to make a persons face on it, but the end result was nothing like the person we intended to do.

Court

In this we all had to be members of the Court and decide if a boy that had stolen a car was guilty or not guilty of charge, of course 7e being the kindest of classes sent him to prison for life.

And that's everything we learnt about during the day, I think all the y7's enjoyed it and liked how we all got involved with everything!

Love Mr Lovett Day

On the 15th of December, 2011 Mr Lovett sadly died from a heart attack. The following day, the main hall was flooded with R.I.P messages and tributes to the great role model, house leader and P.E teacher. Everyone was in great mourning over a massive loss to the school, and to the community.
Thanks to Brandon Hayes
Yesterday, (12th July 2012), we remembered Mr Lovett with what he loved best. We had a sports day! To motivate us all even more, Mrs Mcfarlane held a quick Assembly before the start of the events, to remind us of that first assembly of this year, where he stood at the front of us all and said that he thought of Osborne as one big family. And that he was delighted to be the 'father' of that family.

We were blessed with a great, sunny, hot morning for the sports day. Everyone was really enthusiastic and everyone cheered everyone on in the races. When it came to the last race of the day, everyone was so excited they walked right up to the track to make sure they were close enough to see the teachers make a fool out of themselves. After the race, everyone swamped the track, were there was a sudden burst of celebration as Osborne was declared the winners of the day.

For the afternoon the front garden was full of stalls all selling items for use to buy, with all the money going towards the memorial garden where the swimming pool once was. There was also some Mr Lovett Bands on sale which were in the house colours, which all had a message printed on, and they are things that he always said. The yellow band (Athorpe) has 'Do Your Best' on it. The red band (Segrave) has 'Never Give Up' on. The green band (Hatfield) has 'Live Life To The Full'. And finally the blue band (Osborne) has 'Take Every Opportunity'.

But all we can say is this, we did it for Mr Lovett.

At the start of the day Osborne House were all called into the main hall, where Mrs Mcfarline reminded everyone that Mr Lovett was our head of house and that we all remember the day on that first Assembly when he stood at the front and told everyone to think of Osborne as a big family and that he considered himself as the 'dad' of the family, and that Osborne had to be the best it can be.

After that we headed up to the field where all the other houses where waiting for us so that we could start off Love Mr Lovett day.

As a competitor for Osborne I have to say that everyone was really supportive of all the people taking part even all the staff where up and shouting for all the competitors.
At the start of the 1500m we all said good luck to each other and that it doesn't matter who wins, it's about doing it for Mr Lovett and his family.
One thing I must say is thank you to all the people who supported me in the 1500m.

After all of the sports had finished it was time for the staff relay! The people running it for Osborne where.

And lets just say that they did Osborne proud, even if they made a fool out of them selves.

And One more thing, I truly think that Osborne was The best it can be.

Sorry if I missed any staff runners off that list.

Chocolate Taster 'Too Fat' To Work

Britain's 'Cheif Chocolate Taster' has been forced to resign as a chocolate tester, after gaining 2 stone.
Chocolate-taster forced to give up dream job after piling on two stone
Angus Kennedy's job was to gobble up to 2lbs of goodies, ranging from the weird(Chocolate covered ants) to the wonderful (Lindore) everyday, but had to resign after he was warned his cholesterol level was becoming "dangerously high". He got the £30,000-a-year dream job in 2010. Mars and Nestle relied on his sophisticated palate and experience to sample new treats, before the go into shops. He would then review the products and send them the results.
But all this caused his weight to balloon to a massive 13 and a half stone, and was advised by doctors to step down, in risk of a heart attack. He now embarks on a strict regime to cut all the fat and get back down to his previous weight of 11 and a half stone. He now intends to concentrate on a full-time writing career and finding a publisher for his latest novel - 'Understand and Deliver: The story of the husband who delivered his wife's baby'.

Meet The Wimbledon Champion!

Andy Murray may have lost in the final - but Britain did have one Wimbledon champion!

Step forward Jonny Marray! He became the first Briton to win the Wimbledon men's doubles title for 76 years, after victory with partner Frederik Nielsen from Denmark.

To make things even more amazing, they shouldn't even really have been playing in the first place.

The pair received a 'wildcard' which means they weren't good enough to qualify, but organisers wanted to give them a chance.

Marray and Nielsen certainly proved everyone that they could play - beating some of the world's best players to get the trophy!

And also Jonny is from Sheffield! Who Say's Britain can't win Wimbledon!

Apple fights websites selling access to the iOS6 beta codes

Apple is cracking down on websites that are selling access to pre-release, beta versions if its iOS6 iPhone and iPad software. The beta software is incomplete and Apple only makes it available to software developers for testing these new additions.

The websites change about £6.45 to register a device so it can run iOS6 software, still in beta. Apple has sent legal notices to web-hosting companies asking them to disable the sites.

A Losing Battle

Apple offers the latest finished version of its iOS mobile operating system free, but charges registered developers £65 to access their beat versions.
"We have paid the fees and done all the work. All you have to do is register your iOS device on our account. Once you register, you'll be able to download the beta firmware and install it on your device," one of the activation sites promises.

"Apple is definitely fighting a losing battle on this one."
David McKendrik, Fused chief executive.

I agree, Apple are getting too big for their boots and are fighting losing battles.

Lily Allen and husband have another baby!

Lily Allen and her husband Sam Cooper are expecting their second child. The news comes just months after Lily gave birth to baby girl Ethel Mary.

The couple said that they are over the moon and cant wait for the new addition to their family which will arrive in December.

Her bump has popped out very early – far earlier than the last pregnancy. She’s been joking she feels six months pregnant already.

lily allen
The happy mom.
The pair tied the knot in June 2011, although poor Lily was left to celebrate their first anniversary alone as it clashed with the Euro 2012 England vs France match. Seems like we all come up against the same obstacles after all, even the rich and famous end up football widows.

The Garden Express!

80 year old Bill Barritt has built a miniature railway in his back garden.

A retired accountant who loves trains built a £22,000 railway line in his back garden. He has spent 3 years building his private rail way around his 13 acres of land, which is 1.2 miles of track. The eight passenger train was shipped over from America and is 25ft (7.5m) long. He uses it to ferry his grandchildren around his massive back garden. But it was his wife, Patricia Barritt (81), that persuaded him to fulfil his dream of making the track.

Bill, said:"I did it because she told me too really. Now I can get around the garden at any time, and my train always runs on time but it took a long time to complete, sometimes I would take a break of a week or two and I got a lot of help from my gardener with the physical work."

Ever since he was a child Bill has had a passion for railways, regularly travelling on trains around the country as he was growing up.  He added: "I've always had a fascination with trains. As a youngster I would often go watching the steam trains on the main line up in Lancashire, I really loved to travel on the big old engines - the trains aren't the same these days".

"But now I only have to look out of my back window to see one - it's wonderful."
Bill added: "Everybody around the village knows about it and every now and then there's a knock at my door from people wanting a little trip."

Wimbledon final 2012

Introduction to tennis:
Tennis is a sport usually played between two players (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles.) Each player uses a racket to hit the ball. The object of the game is to play the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a good return. You will see tennis in the Olympics, played by all ages.

Wimbledon final 2012:
The match was between Andy Murray and Rodger Federer. The exciting match took place on Sunday the 8th of July.
FEDERER BEATS MURRAY 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 FOR SEVENTH WIMBLEDON TITLE.
A fantastic effort by Murray but ultimately again was beaten by the better player if not the best player to ever grace the SW19 courts. Early on in the game, it was Murray who looked like a six-time champion rather than his rival and he won his first set in a major following three straight-sets defeats in his previous three final defeats. But it all went down hill after a short break, when the roof was closed up. After an exhausting 3 hours Federer finally won the game.
Speech from the winner: "Murray has been so consistent, it shows he cares so dearly about tennis his reaction, he'll win at least one grand slam. I think I played some of my best tennis in the last two sets."

Murray holds back the tears in his post-match interview on court, Murrays speech: "I'd like to congratulate Roger, I was asked after my semi-final 'is this my best chance'. Roger is 30 now, he's not bad for a 30-year-old. I know he struggled early on with his back, but congratulations you deserve it. Thanks to everyone in my corner, we did a great job, so thank you.
"Everyone talks about how tough it is to play at Wimbledon with the pressure but the support has been incredible."
In the end, there were no major arguments and the game ended safely! Did you watch the big kick off? If so what were your thoughts... (comment below)

John Terry In Court Accused Of Racisum.

John Terry has appeared in court accused of racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.

The incident allegedly happened when Chelsea were playing QPR at Loftus Road in October 2011.

The Chelsea defender denies using racist language against Ferdinand, who is the brother of Manchester United defender Rio.

The trial will last five days and if Terry is found guilty, the maximum sentence he could receive is a £2,500 fine.

The trial is happening, because a member of the public complained after the match.

Attempts to convert Stephen Hawking's brainwaves to speech.

An American scientist is going to unveil details of the work on Stephen Hawking's brain patterns which he said could help to safeguard the physicist's ability to communicate. Professor Philip Low said that he eventually hoped to allow Stephen to "write" words with his brain as an alternative to his current speech system which interprets his cheek muscle movements.

Prof Low said that the innovation would avert the risk of locked-in syndrome, however Intel is working on a different idea.

Prof Hawking was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 1963. In the 1980s he was able to use slight thumb movements to move a computer cursor to write sentences.

His condition got worse later on and he had to switch to a system which detects movements in his right cheek through an infrared sensor attached to his glasses which measures changes in light.

Because the nerves in his face continue to deteriorate his rate of speech has slowed to about one word a minute prompting him to look for an alternative.

Here, Have a Grand.

A business man has been handing out envelopes, to complete strangers, giving them the privilege to spend £1,000.

In the note it says 'You Are Lucky. You have been personally selected to participate in our exciting new project. £1,000 is yours, to spend on something good.{Once that's sunk in, please turn over}

The millionaire is doing a test by handing out the envelopes to random people and seeing how they react. The reactions were varied, from shocked to simply delighted.

He has given away around £100,000 to random people. He gives each person 48 hours to reply, in order to get the £1000. He sometimes even add little 'treasure hunts' and hides invites in libraries and shops, then puts the clues on his Twitter account.

Murray loses to Federer

After a tense match Murray lost to Federer in the Wimbledon men's final.
The swiss player has totaled his wins upto 7 and is now the world number one!

After his loss Murray was trying not to cry on the centre court but it eventually caught up to him and he let tears run down his face. It's the closest any British player has come to a Wimbledon title for 74 years.

Not many people thought he could get that far and some were extremely hopeful after he won the first set as soon as it began to rain and the roof was closed Murray began to slip. He then lost the following 3 sets and lost the match.

Wimbledon 2012: Murray Beaten By Federer

Andy Murray was born on the 15th of May 1987. He is a Scottish professional tennis player. Murray is the British No. 1 and ranked No. 4 in the world.

Today was the Wimbledon 2012 men’s finals. Andy Murray and Roger Federer went head to head to compete for the win of the Grand Slam title.

Murray was aiming to become the first British man since Fred Perry in 1936 to lift a major singles trophy. However, sadly Andy’s luck wasn’t on his side as Federer won: 4-6 - 7-5 - 6-3 - 6-4 on Centre Court. A massive disappoint for Murray and his fans/family/friends. A tearful Murray said:

"Everybody always talks about the pressure of playing at Wimbledon, but it's not the people watching - they make it incredible."

"There are mixed emotions. Most of them are negative. The reaction from the crowd was great. I felt like I was playing for the nation and I couldn't quite do it."

Here is a video of Murray’s speech after his defeat by Federer...

Cheryl Cole Was Scared Of A Plane!

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl Cole says that she feared for her life when she got trapped in her private jet during a lightning storm! The singer was at the Frankfurst airport in Germany during her A Million Lights tour when Lightening struck the runway. Because it was to0 dangerous, the plane was not allowed to take off, and no one was allowed to leave the aircraft. She said, ''We were struck in the plane and just sitting on the runway and a bright massive flash of light hit out side the aircraft.''
''I said to my friend, 'That's lightening'-then it just didn't stop.''
''I was so scared that I thought, 'This is it. I've got an album to promote and I've so much yet to do!''
But she said thinking about her charity mountain climb for Comic Relief in 2009 helped her focus.
''I remembered that she had climbed Kilimanjaro, so I took a bit of strength from that.''
''When we finally took off about an hour later I was terrified that we'd be struck by lightening in the air.''
But luckily for Cheryl she didn't need a 'Parachute' after all...

New Grammar Test For Primary Schools.

All 11-year-olds are going to have to sit a new grammar exam at school.

Up to 600,000 pupils a year will have to take the test, because the government wants the reading and writing standards of kids to improve before they reach secondary school.

Children will be tested on the proper use of apostrophes and the difference between nouns, verbs and adjectives.

But some teachers are against it, saying it'll put too much pressure on kids.

The government wants to introduce the new exam as they think children are not learning the basics of reading and writing at primary school.

They say this means that many kids then struggle to write essays when they get to secondary school.

Pupils will also be expected to use 'fluent and joined' handwriting in the test.

The plans are set to be introduced in all state schools next year, but some teachers have already threatened to say 'no', because they don't think it is the right thing to do.
