Governors Award Night!

Many student's hard work payed off on Thursday when they received one or more governors awards for their efforts in school!

In order to achieve a Governors Award you need to have been nominated by a teacher because you have worked hard in a subject or activity in school. You get a letter telling you that you have been nominated, but the subject its from remains a mystery until the night of the awards. Family and friends can attend to see the presentation of the awards too. There was an opening song performed by a student which really did sound great.

Pupils got awards from a range of subjects including creative, humanities, languages and vocational. It was surprising how many pupils got awarded four or more certificates and one student even got a total of SEVEN awards! It was a great night overall and proves that the devotion towards hitting an achievment gets stronger each year!

Are You Going On Holiday This Year?

A holiday is where you go abroad to a different country other than where you live currently or somewhere where you travel within your country. You can go with as many or as few people as you like. It is a time where you can spend quality time with your family/friends, where you have a fun and enjoyable time. For some, it could just be a peaceful and relaxing break from their work, or just to get out of the house for some time. However, if you go abroad, it can cost A LOT! But others actually don’t cost that much and are extremely affordable!
I’m sure all us kids can’t wait until the summer holidays start! Getting a good long break off school! Going out with your friends, going shopping, skating, swimming, it’s a time that we all love. Well… Maybe not for the parents anyway… But we still all love the holidays!

Throughout the past 5 years I have been abroad with my family to a very nice country called Turkey. Turkey is a Eurasian country located in Western Asia and in East Thrace in Southeastern Europe. Turkey is bordered by eight countries: Bulgaria to the northwest; Greece to the west; Georgia to the northeast; Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran to the east; and Iraq and Syria to the southeast. Everyone has different opinions about different countries. I have heard people saying that they hate Turkey! But that is their opinion. Personally, I think Turkey is an absolutely amazing country! They are very friendly people and they are brilliant entertainers!
However this year, me and my family are going somewhere a little different. We are heading off the Rhodes, Greece. In the past, we have been to Greece, but not the area we will be going this year. We always like to try something new and different. I can’t wait! I love our family holidays! I just love how I am with my family; we have a laugh and enjoy the experience while we can.
How about you… Are you going on holiday anywhere this year? If you are, why not post a bit about where you are going…

Apple u-turn as Mac maker rejoins EPEAT

Apple has rejoined an environmental ratings scheme 7 days after quitting the programme. The firm published a letter saying it had realised the move had been a "mistake" shortly after many of is customers had complained.

The u-turn follows an announcement by San Francisco city officials who planned to ban local agencies from buying Apple Mac computers, at the time they hoped Apple would reconsider. Apples helped to set up the EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) registery in 2006, it is designed to identify which electronic devices pose the least risk towards the environment.

Apple's decision to leave followed the release of the new laptop which was hard to disassemble and recycle, meaning the device would have been very unlikely to have secured the entire scheme's top rating.

The Next iPhone Has A Thinner Screen?!

Apple Incorporated's next iPhone, currently being manufactured by Asian component makers, will use a new technology that makes the phone's screen thinner, people familiar with the matter said, as the U.S. technology "giant" strives to improve technological features as well as identifying some competition from Samsung and their other many rivals.

The Japanese liquid-crystal-display makers Sharp Corp. and Japan Display Inc.-a new company that combined three Japanese electronics makers' display units-as well as South Korea's own LG Display Co. These people are currently mass producing panels for the next iPhone.
