A Charity Wants Children At School To Have Dog Lessons

Charities are wanting children to have lessons on how to look after their dogs properly, said by the PDSA. This was said because nearly two thirds of children who had took part in their research are scared of their dogs. The PDSA have also found out that one in three dog owners have been bitten by their dogs. The rate of dogs with bad behaviour has reached frightening levels and means that people need to take more care when looking after their dogs. The bad behaviour can come from the lack of obedience when  training the dog and at anytime at all.

More Animals Are Being Abandoned!

The RSPCA say they're at crisis point because of the rise in number of animals being abandoned.
The animal charity says that 40,000 pets were abandoned last year, compared to just 25,000 five years ago. The charity thinks families struggling with money problems are leaving (abandoning) their pets because they can't afford to look after them.

Charities that run rescue centres say that they are getting full up and not enough people are coming forward to adopt. Another problem is that the cost of caring for an abandoned animals is also going up. It costs £15 a day to care for a dog and £9.40 for a cat.

Because some animals are unwell when they come to rescue centres, it can take a long time to look after them and make sure they're well enough to be rehomed. The RSPCA said that in the future they may have to turn away vulnerable animals because of the crisis.

Hedgehog Trapped in Crisp Packet

It took more than three hours to rescue a baby hedgehog that got caught inside an empty crisp packet.

The rescuers had thought that the baby hedgehog was attracted to the warmth and smell of the crisp packet. The packet was behind some railings which meant that it took longer to get the animal out. The hedgehog was found in Somerset, England. The hedgehog is now recovering in a local rescue centre and will stay there for the wintertime. When the winter is over then he will be released into the wild. Obama's Victory Tweet Becomes the Most Popular Tweet Ever!

Obama posted a message on twitter about his victory of being re-elected as the US President and it became the most popular tweet ever!

His twitter followers retweeted him half a million times after tweeting "Four More Years" and a picture of him and his wife (attached.)

His tweet overtook Justin Bieber's tweet and his tweet became the most popular ever!

He also thanked his followers in a previous tweet, he said: "This happened because of you. Thank you."

The 2012 election has been a huge impact on twitter as it has been used to help both Democrats and Republicans in their campaign. Their Facebook accounts have also played a big role in helping them get the public out to vote for them.

Rob Johnson, campaign manager for Texas Republican Governor Rick Perry's failed presidential run, said Twitter had changed the future of electioneering.

He said " Twitter changed the dynamic this cycle and will continue to play a bigger role in years to come".

"We no longer click refresh on websites or wait for the paper boy to throw the news on our porch," Mr Johnson said. "We go to Twitter and learn the facts before others read it."

Obama Has Been Re-Elected!

After a long battle between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, the votes were counted and Obama was re-elected as President of the USA.

Mitt won in North Carolina, but the Democrats (Obama) won in Ohio, Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, Wisconsin, Virginia and Colorado.

Obama was already ahead in the popularity vote meaning he had a good chance at getting back to the White House!

When it was clear the Obama was re-elected he came onto the stage, in Chicago, to Stevie Wonder's hit song 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered'

Mr Obama said: "In the weeks ahead I look forward to sitting down with governor Romney to talk about where we can work together to move this country forward."

He also said: "Despite all the hardship we've been through, despite all the frustrations of Washington, I've never been more hopeful about our future. I have never been more hopeful about America."

"I believe we can seize this future together because we are not as divided as our politics suggest. We're not as cynical as the pundits believe. We are greater than the sum of individual ambitions."

He added: "We know in our hearts that, for the United States of America, the best is yet to come."

This race to the White House has been one of the tightest ever, but Obama won with just under 100 points clear.

Romney said: "This is a time of great challenges for America and I pray that the president is successful in guiding our nation."

One Direction Puppy Love

The 1D boys have been getting love from guide dog puppies for a cover of Wonderland Magazine in one of the world's cutest photo shoots.

The puppies were brought by Guide Dog which is a charity to help blind people walk across roads. Before the interview the boys were asked what the boys think about the global success.

Liam Payne said that the main thing was that "we've just been ourselves."

Louis Tomlinson agreed with what Liam said: "With previous boy bands, I think they felt like they had to meet a stereotype", "we're just ourselves, stupid, immature and quirky".

Harry Styles said that he would keep his puppy and take it home.

Apple May Refuse Google Maps On iOS

Since Apple released iOS 6, piles of complaints have been made about the firm's own maps app. We are still waiting for an improvement. A new report cliams that Apple may refuse Google's upcoming Maps app for iOS, simply because the tech giant produced it's own.  As well as maps, Apple erased YouTube from the software, but allowed it to be downloaded from the App Store. Many people think that because Apple haven't made their own competitor for Google's YouTube, they agreed for it to be available to download.

If Apple don't allow Google Maps to be available on the App Store, they have to bring their maps app to the 21st century; otherwise people won't be too happy. With black and white images, shaky roads, not enough details and poor navigation; Apple need to step it up a gear and bring everything under control or they will come hurtling down to Earth.

Voting For China’s New President

China (officially the People's Republic of China) is a country in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country, with a population of over 1.3 billion. Covering approximately 9.6 million square kilometres, the country is the world's second-largest country by land area,  and the third- or fourth-largest by total area, depending on the definition of total area.

On Thursday the 8th of November 2012, a new president for China will be chosen. Believe it or not, China hasn’t had a president for 10 years now and this one will be their first new president since that time. There will not be an election, like here in the UK and the USA. Instead China’s ruling Communist Party, who have been in power for 35 years now, will officially choose a new leader for China.

So who ever China’s new leader is, depends on what China’s ruling Communist Party choose. Let’s hope they choose wisely, and get someone who is right for the job!

iPad Mini Sales Top The Roof

Since Apple released the new generation of the iPad on Friday, sales topped 3 million during the weekend. This high figure equaled the number of the 3rd generation iPads sold in three days; when they were released in March this year. Apple's CEO stated "We set a new launch weekend record and practically sold out of iPad minis. We're working hard to build more quickly to meet the incredible demand." Part of that statement either tells us that Apple didn't make that many devices, or the demand is really that high.

The iPad Mini is available in over 34 countries around the world, including the UK, US, Japan, Canada, Australia and France. Even though hurricane Sandy devastated New York, people there still lined up to get their hands on this revolutionary tablet. However, days before the launch was due, Apple doubted that it would sell a large amount of iPad Minis. The queues were fairly short on Friday morning, but that wasn't necessarily a sign that sales would be low, as Apple found out over the weekend. Customers are clearly interested in every move that Apple make, and literally nothing can stop them in getting their hands on a device.

Obama and Romney's Last Chance to Win!

Barack Obama (The current US present) and Mitt Romney are approaching the end of their campaigns across the USA.

Their at the final push and have to do anything to get the votes they need! 46% of the USA said they'd vote for Romney and 47% would vote for Obama leaving 7% of people undecided.

They say that this is the closest presidential race ever!

The Obama campaign is scheduled to go to Madison, Wisconsin; Columbus, Ohio; Des Moines, Iowa; and then later on to Chicago.

Mr Romney is visiting Sanford, Florida; Lynchburg, Virginia; Fairfax, Virginia; Columbus, Ohio; Manchester, New Hampshire; before heading to Boston.

Would-be voters have done 40% more television advertising in the lead up to this election, compared to those in the 2008 US presidential election.

The advertising in 10 states has cost more than $1bn (£620m).

Now it's time for the people of the US to vote and Obama and Romney to make their final stop in states to persuade them to vote for them!

The London Shard Loses Its Tallest Title!

The Shard in London
The London Shard
Before, London’s Shard skyscraper was the tallest ever building in Europe however there has been a new building built in Moscow , Russia that has beaten and taken the title from London Shard.
Developers of Mercury City said on Thursday that their new creation had officially topped the previous record set by London Shard with a magnificent 338 metres, London Shard’s height: 310 metres. So they have clearly beaten us by 28 metres!

In Moscow, their new creation, with a copper-coloured high-rise will be a mix of offices and homes. This work is set to be all completed early next year (2013). However, it also looks set to be overtaken by the Federation Tower also seen in Moscow which is set to hit an amazing 506 metres sometime next year.

Both of these buildings are truely spectacular and unique in their own way.

A Life Size Model Of The Queen Has Been Made!

A bit about Queen Elizabeth II...
Queen Elizabeth was born on the 21st of April 1926. She was also born in London and was privately educated at her home. In 1947 Elizabeth married Price Phillip, Duke Of Edinburgh with whom she has four children: Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward.

You probably won’t believe this, but a life size model of the Queen herself has been made.... OUT OF SUGAR!
<----------------------------------------------------
A sugar artist called Michelle Wibowo from West Sussex has recreated Her Majesty out of sugar! As well as her faithful companion corgi using only fruit cake! How amazing is that!?

Michelle said: “It's a similar technique to when you use clay, when you sculpt. It's sort of the same thing. It's just stickier!"
If you’re wondering how long it took Michelle to completely sculpt all of Her Majesty and her corgi. It took her a whopping 100 hours and she used a total of 25kg of sugar to make it all!

Michelle explained: "It's difficult with sugar. You can't keep adding more and more sugar. The more you add, you'll see the joins."

Previously, Michelle won gold at Culinary Olympics in Germany last month which is a spectacular achievement! Finally, Michelle’s models of the Queen of her corgi are being saved for special appearances at food exhibitions. Let’s hope that nobody eats these wonderful art pieces! I know I wouldn’t, would you?

A Firework Disaster For 2 Boys!

animated gifs fireworks 8Fireworks are types of explosive devices that are used for aesthetic and entertainment. The most common use of a firework is in a firework display. A fireworks event is a display of the effects produced by fireworks. Fireworks take many forms to produce the four primary effects: noise, light, smoke and floating materials. They may be designed to burn with flames and sparks of many colors, typically red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and silver. However fireworks can sometimes lead to life threatening injuries and consequences if not handled correctly as you are about to find out...
animated gifs fireworks 6 Not long ago, two young boys, 10 year old Dale and his friend were outside playing with a firework when it all suddenly ended horrifically.

animated gifs fireworks 3When they were handling it, all of a sudden it exploded and seriously injured them both. A lesson to be learnt. Dale’s family published a photo on Dale in hospital, showing his injuries so a vital lesson can be learnt to ALWAYS handle fireworks with extreme caution and to always make sure you are with an responsible adult and to make sure you know exactly what you are doing at all times. This was also to warn other children of the consequences of playing with fireworks in an un-appropriate and dangerous way.
Dale in hospital
Dale in hospital with his injuries.
Sadly, ten year old Dale was badly burnt on his face and hands which this picture shows.
<--- As you can see there is a mask on his face, this was put on him to protect his injuries.

However, it is not yet known how these two young boys got hold of this active and dangerous firework as fireworks were not on sale in the area, so how they managed to get hold of it is still a mystery.
animated gifs fireworks 4 This is a serious wake up call to everybody in the world as this clearly shows what the ending result can be if you handle these explosive devices in the wrong manner. Furthermore it is illegal for anybody under the age of 18 to purchase any kind of firework and if you want to know how to keep yourself and others safe around fireworks then check out this useful guide... http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/15357129

Apple Avoiding High Tax Rates

Last year Apple paid a respectable 2.5% corporation tax outside of the United States, on it's profits. Since then, that figure has dropped to just 2% this year. Some people may say that this can be classed as tax avoidance, as the tech giants only paid £445m on foreign pre-tax profits of £23bn; this is a rate of 1.9%. However, nothing suggests that this scheme is illegal.

Apple is now one of the companies which pay low tax rates overseas, Facebook, Google and Starbucks have been part of this for a while now. This 'tax avoidance' is leveled out by the UK, no surprise there. Every firm pays large amounts of tax and raise big amounts of VAT, in the United Kingdom. Seeing as Apple leads most of it's business through Europe they end up paying a lot of that. The Caribbean Islands provide some sort of tax haven for many multinational companies, who manage to pay way under the corporation tax rates by using these tax havens. Nobody expected Apple to be avoiding tax rates in some way; to get loads of profit each year so there's nothing to worry about. In your interest, their total profits for the year went up by an astonishing 24%.

What is The iPad Mini Really Worth?

The newest edition to the iPad family went on sale in shops on Friday; it attracted a lot of interest from people around the world. Many people took them home just to find how 'indestructible' they were, others to make unboxing and review videos. On the other hand, there were analysts from IHS, a research firm, who just couldn't wait to take the device apart and see what's inside.

As you may know, the prices for the iPad Mini range from £269 for the 16GB wi-fi only model to £529 for the 64GB wi-fi and cellular model. Apple obviously have to make a profit from every product they make, the IHS has been looking into how much the components cost and what it all adds up to. From what they have seen and analysed, the wi-fi only 16GB iPad Mini costs around £117 to manufacture. The more memory you choose to have, the more profit Apple will get, at least that's what they think. Some people say that the price Apple sell it for is outrageously high, it's not. If you think about the cost of paying each engineer, designer and project manager; the cost of assembling the device and the price of shipping. It all adds up, Apple might be making a minor profit on each device they sell.

Furthermore, there is no retina display to go with the Mini, Apple say that it would raise the price. Many people say that the screen looks stunning even without it. The IHS have found that the display and A5 processor is manufactured by Samsung, and if you all remember; the battle between these firms has been ongoing for quite a while. Many other parts are made in different countries, such as Japan. The iPad Mini is a great device and it will hopefully help Apple get back on its feet after a hard year or so.
